Telemark Lodge Donation to Community Possible

Thanks to our alert friends Mike Mandli and Dan Lablanc for the heads up on this KDLH News Duluth and Superior report announcing that the SC Johnson Family may donate Telemark Lodge and a 135 acre lease of land to the Cable community. Central Cross Country Skiing (CXC) is in a negotiation of terms for the building which they plan to develop into a US Olympic Training Center. The 135 acre lease of some land, while not clearly stated in the news report, appears to be destined toward keeping some key trails open. The company donating Telemark is now called Telemark, LLC. This is great news for the community.

The State of the Snow:
The Lapham Peak Report
Thanksgiving is coming and it's time to say "thanks" to all the people who have put so much effort into making man-made snow skiing a reality at Lapham Peak over the last seven winters.

Some winters bountiful snow falls from the sky, but, as everyone who has skied here for any number of years knows, that is often not the case.  Last year was a good example.  Without the man-made snow at Lapham Peak there would not have been a ski season here to speak of other than grousing about it.

As it was, the man-made loops at Lapham offered 90 days of reliable skiing.  Programs like Tuesday Night Lessons, Wednesday Night Ski League, and the Peak Nordic Ski Team youth lessons on Mondays were viable thanks to man-made snow.

You can read details in John McCarthy's Report on Snowmaking or view the plan for Snomaking Trails map.

All of this has happened and will be improved in the future with your donations.  CLICK HERE to find out how you can help.  Donations of any amount are appreciated.
CXC Super Fit Sale Success
A big Bike Doc thank you for making last weekend's CXC Super Fit Sale and Peak Nordic Ski Swap huge successes.  The Doc reordered ski sizes and flexes on Monday so we will have the selection you expect at his always competitive pricing.

An early dusting of snow gets everyone excited.  Skiing can't be too far off.  And Christmas is practically around the corner too.  Stop in and check out the selection of Bjorn Dahle clothing.  It looks great on the wall and would look even better on you or someone you're shopping for.  We also have Gift Cards available for any amount.

Wine Cheese & Skis December 12

The popular ladies ski night returns as Wine, Cheese & Skis is set for Thursday, December 12 at 6 pm.  Food, beverage, programs, prizes and a fashion show will be featured.

Stone Grind & Hot Box

Bicycle Doctor Nordic Ski Shop expert stone grinding and hot box waxing service are ready to go.  Bring your skis in now so you can be ready when the snow flies.

Bicycle Service Rates Increase in 2014

The Doc hasn't raise the service rates in five years, but will have to after the first of the year.  With the level of expertise on hand it will still be a great deal.  You, the beloved consumer, can take advantage of the current rates by getting your bike in before then.

Often forgotten at this time of the year are the service needs of your faithful bicycle.  So it sits in the garage with that tire that should be replaced or gears out of adjustment.  The spring arrives and you find there is a two-week wait to get it serviced.  Get it in now and when service rates go up you'll laugh all the way the bank and bike trail.

Happy trails,
The Doc
