Free Skis & Ski Lessons January 7
The Doc has been giving free ski lessons at Lapham Peak for a long time. Maybe since the glacier left. The first lesson last Tuesday was a big success. This year he's decided to kick it up a notch by offering free use of a high performance classic ski package for the lessons on Tuesday, January 7 and discounted rental the following weeks.
"It's so hard to teach people classical skiing without good equipment," the Doc said. "I mean I try to teach double poling and they are going nowhere. So I decided to offer high performance skis in our rental program this year. For the first lesson in January people can use a set for free. After that they can rent for $20 instead of the usual $30."
Free lessons will run at 7 pm Tuesdays January 7 though February 25 weather permitting. Performance skate ski equipment will be available too. Be sure to pick up your skis no later than 5 pm on the day of the lesson. This is a great opportunity to learn or improve in this best of all winter sports.
Shopping at the Doc's Get More - Hassle Less It's a fact: Holiday fun happens when you're having fun on the holidays. And there's no place more fun to shop than at the Doc's. You'll meet friends, get help from our friendly staff, even have a coffee or a beer. And you'll find deals on great gift ideas like these: Vasa wax bench for $219.99Pity the poor home ski waxer trying to balance skis on a pair of saw horses or chairs while ironing or scraping. The Vasa bench is the Doc's fave. It holds the ski securely and folds for travel or storage. Bliz eye wear starting at $44.99 The hottest skiing glasses this year come from Bliz. We've got lots of models including the innovative Proflip OTG for $129.99 which fits over conventional seeing glasses and flips up to prevent fogging. Indoor riding on CycleOpsA great gift for the cyclist who wants to keep in shape indoors this winter. We have CycleOps stationary trainers starting at $189.99. Check out the SuperMagneto Pro for $419.99. It's amazing. Outdoor riding on Origin 8 The super fatties are revolutionating winter cycling. Born when monster knobby tires were made possible by disk brakes, these bikes are fun on snow or summer beaches. Now the Origin 8 Crawler, in stock at $1,449.99, has improved the feel and reliability of the experience with a NuVinci N360 CVP gearbox. It's all internal and protected. Just twist the grip shifter and enjoy an infinitely variable gear range. Bicycle Doctor Gift CardsIf these gift ideas aren't enough, or if you would like to kick in some dough towards them or something else your lucky gift recipient would like, consider a Bicycle Doctor Gift Card. Available in any denomination. Christmas & New Years Shop Hours
We will close at 2 pm on Christmas Eve, Tuesday, December 24 and be closed Christmas Day. The same for New Years Eve, Tuesday, December 31 and New Years Day. Happy Holidays to you all.

Raves for Lapham Peak Skiing If you haven't been skiing at Lapham Peak yet, you've been missing primo mid-wiinter conditions for skating and classical on the man-made snow loop. The new LED lights are both brighter and more energy efficient. The rest of the lit loop on natural snow is skiable as well though a bit thin and with skied in tracks. While it won't take much more snow to get the whole system open, the man-made loop is what gives us a jump on the ski season without having to drive hundreds of miles and makes the weekly ski lessons, races and Peak Nordic youth ski programs reliable. Donations have made this possible. Thanks to all who have. If you have not or can give more. CLICK HERE to support snowmaking and future loop expansion. Lapham Peak Christmas Ornaments For Sale You can also support snowmaking at Lapham Peak and make your Christmas tree bright by buying a beautiful John Hallet design, laser cut Christmas tree ornament at Bicycle Doctor for $20. Proceeds go to snowmaking projects. |
