New Moon Birkie Wax Service

With excitement running high for the 2015 American Birkebeiner, we’re taking lots of phone calls at New Moon about snow conditions on the Birkie Trail from eager skiers. We are happy to say that despite less snow than last season, conditions are truly great on the trail! If you’d like to keep up with first-hand reports, skiers can always call us at New Moon, or consider checking the Birkie Groomer's Report, Birkie OO Webcam, or Skinnyski’s Birkie Trail Page.

Birkie Fever is ramping up and New Moon Ski Shop is now accepting skis for New Moon’s 2015 Birkie Wax Service. This popular and successful service allows Birkie participants a chance to relax and enjoy the pre-race atmosphere rather than stressing out over wax choices, finding space to wax, and hauling your wax kit around. For 2015, we are offering a pre-ordering option, guaranteeing a spot through Tuesday of Birkie week. After Tuesday, this is a first-come – first served service until filled to capacity. Newmoonski.com has all the details for the 2015 Birkie including store hours, stone grinding info, and the full Wax Service Info Page.

Two of the great Birkie prep races are on-track for the weekend – Hayward Lions Pre-Birkie on Saturday with its famous drag-race start on Lake Hayward, and the North End Classic in Cable on Sunday featuring perfect classic tracks and constantly changing terrain. Both events support great organizations in the Hayward/Cable area.

For Pre-Birkie Weekend, New Moon will host pre-race waxing clinics at the shop on Friday, February 6th for FastWax and Toko Waxes. Simplify and demystify your race waxing plan with help from Dan Meyer from FastWax and 3-time Olympian, John Bauer with Toko.

All this also means it’s time for New Moon’s Annual Pre-Birkie Sale! Enjoy discounts on hundreds of Nordic apparel pieces, accessories, and equipment. Many items are even at closeout pricing!
