Take yourself to new heights and learn the ropes through hands on experience in our Climbing Cave.  Learn the basics of bouldering, top roping and what you need to know to get started in this invigorating sport from our very own expert climber Carolyn Hansen.  All equipment provided.  Wear comfortable clothing! Required:  All climbers must have a completed liability waiver on file at Midwest Mountaineering.  Liability waivers expire at the end of the calendar year and must be re-submitted every year. Thursday, March 5 - 7:00pm -  Plan Your Yosemite Trip
Yosemite has over 750 miles of trails which make for some great backpacking.  Some areas are better than most. This presentation is focused on showing you the different areas of the park, and what you need to know for a successful hike.  Kim Fishburn will discuss permits, food storage and the use of public transportation will be some of the subjects discussed. The second Thursday of every month is now the all women, ONLY women, evening of bouldering in the Cave!  Carolyn Hansen will be on hand to answer questions and help provide a fun and relaxing atmosphere.  All abilities welcome from the, "I've never done this before", to those who want to set routes, and everyone in-between. Thursday, March 19- 7:00pm - Superior Hiking Trail
The Superior Hiking Trail is one of the top long trails in the United States.  This coming National Trails Day on June 6th, the length of the trail will grow to 302 miles with the addition of a new section of trail. In this presentation you'll learn about the different sections of the trail, transportation options, and locations of post offices and grocery stores along the trail. Find out everything you need to know about paddling in the BWCA.  Bear Paulsen, General Manager at Northstar Canoes, will share his knowledge of permits, routes and general wilderness tripping techniques. He'll give you hints on avoiding the crowds whether you're base-camping or traveling daily.  He'll also share ways to avoid the two most threatening parts of canoe country – bugs and bears.  Expedition Room, Midwest Mountaineering
