$5,000 Grant available to an environmental or wilderness cause - proposal due by June 30, 2015 (deadline has been extended)

Midwest Mountaineering dedicates 10% of its pre-tax profits to environmental and wilderness causes. Customers vote on which group is to be  awarded the grant.  Submit a proposal for your group by sending a paragraph description of your organization and a paragraph description of a specific project that this money will be used for.  Send your grant proposal to [email protected] by June 30th.

If you know of a group or cause that you believe deserves this grant, let them know that proposals should be sent to [email protected] by June 30, 2015.  Midwest employees will vote to choose the top three proposals and you, our customers will vote for the final recipient of this grant.

Try these Done-in-A-Day Hikes and Activities

With our busy schedules, done-in-a-day outdoor activities are much easier to find time for than longer, more involved outdoor plans. Rod's three favorite local done-in-a-day activities are:  #1, Kayaking down Minnehaha Creek, #2  Hiking the dirt trails along the Mississippi River (especially with my dog) and #3 Walking around the many Twin Cities lakes. You can find many more ideas at rootsrated.com.

With some iconic spots for camping and the ability to enter into Big Saganaga Lake from the East, Magnetic Lake Entry provides one of the most exciting and interesting entry points to visit the BWCA.  Come and visit with Steve Schreader, our expert BWCA Staff member, tutored by the ever-wise Bear Paulsen, as he breaks down the Magnetic Lake entry point and Granite River, focusing on River Canoe traveling and taking advantage of a highly mobile and fast moving route through the BWCA.
