FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | | Torino 2006: Sensational success: Ten Fischer athletes in the fastest eleven During heavy snowfall and sometimes stormy winds ten Fischer athletes were in the first eleven at the 15 km classic race - a sensational result! The fastest of the day was Andrus Veerpalu (EST, Fischer). The classic-specialist from Estonia won at the end of the heavy track with a 14.5 second lead over his brand colleague Lukas Bauer (CZE, Fischer) and Tobias Angerer (GER). The Olympic champion Andrus Veerpalu was really satisfied: "when I looked out of the window this morning and saw the snow coming I had big doubts. I knew it would be a difficult competition. This second gold medal after Salt Lake 2002 was very important for me. Since then I have only worked for this day today." The second placed Lukas Bauer said:" I liked the conditions over the last days, but when I woke up this morning I didn`t have a good feeling at all. But when I went passed Anders Soedergren I knew, that my skis were great in the downhill and I had good grip. After the first lap I knew that I was able to fight for a medal. With Jaak Mae (EST), Johann Olsson (SWE), Andreas Schlütter (GER), Martin Tauber (AUT), Serguei Novikov (RUS), Sami Jauhojaervi (FIN, Fischer boots) and Anders Soedergren (SWE, all on Fischer-skis) the following places were all taken by Fischer-athletes. 17.02.06 Pragelato (ITA) Cross Country 15 km Classic Men
