Yoko 232 System Shines at US Nationals

The YOKO 232 grip/glove system proved itself at the US Nationals today in the Men’s 10 km Classic race and Women’s 5 km Classic race. Many of the top World Cup skiers have used the YOKO 232 System to success in Europe, this was the first opportunity for the system to prove itself in the US at the elite level.

In the Men’s race, Justin Wadsworth took the US National championship and Marcus Nash took the Bronze medal using the YOKO 232 grips. Marcus also used the YOKO Power Poles. Kris Freeman elected not to use the YOKO 232 System, but still wore YOKO gloves of course.

In the Women’s race, Nina Kempel took the championship just in front of Katerina Hanusova from the University of Nevada-Reno Ski Team. Both Nina and Katerina used the YOKO 232 grips and Katerina also used the YOKO Power Poles as well. Park City’s Wendy Wagner took the Bronze medal.

On the World level, Thomas Alsgaard, Odd Bjorn Hjelmeseth, Harri Kirvesniemi, Jari Isometsae, Katrin Smigun, Bente Martinsen-Skari and many other stars (accounting for 3 of the top 5 men in last years overall World Cup and the top 2 overall women) have been using the YOKO 232 System. Furthermore, Kirvesneimi, Isometsae, and Smigun have been skiing with the YOKO Power Poles.

Unfortunately, of the above World Cup stars, only Katrin Smigun and Bente Martinsen-Skari will be attending the PreOlympic World Cup events in Heber City, Utah in Mid January.

Congratulations to our US Champions!
