Anikin Camp at Telemark Resort

Nikolai Anikin video tapes a training camp skier.
Olympic Cross Country Gold Medallist and former Soviet Union Master Coach Nikolai Anikin and his staff of Gitchi Gummi Sports Association staff have set up a special training camp that will allow skiers time to participate in the Seeley Hills Classic race. The camp will take place at Telemark Resort near Cable, Wisconsin January 19 - 21.

Anikin's Thanksgiving weekend camp prompted Ashland skier Paul Haltvick to comment, "I went for all three days and it was great. Thought I was going to just brush up on my technique, but Nikolai, Will, Andy and Mike found all kinds of problems for me to work on. Nikolai is quite the character besides. Well worth the money."

On Friday, January 19 Anikin will focus on classic skiing technique and waxing. On Saturday and Sunday freestyle will be covered with an emphasis on tuning up for the American Birkebeiner race. There will be a break in the program Saturday morning and early afternoon so the staff and camp attendies can enter the Seeley Hills Classic 22 or 42 kilometer race which starts at 10 am at the Birkie Trail Double O rest cabin. Freestyle coaching will begin mid-afternoon on Saturday and run until early afternoon on Sunday.

Skiers can sign up for both sessions or just choose classic or freestyle. For information, detailed schedule and entry form visit www.telemarkresort.com or call toll-free 877/798-3999, ext 503. For Seeley Hills Classic race information contact Dennis Kruse at 715/798-3571.
