Updates on the upcoming events...
  • Mar 7 Lotvola Cup (Callaway, MN)
    • Mar 2 update:
This afternoon I skied the Lotvola Cup course and found snow conditions excellent. The course has fantastic coverage with a compacted base from 6-12" throughout the course. The recent snowfalls ranging from 1-4" the past two weeks has found snow with high density and consequently has put some nice action in the base, even with colder temps as of late. Like the first race in 1977, the race is classic technique only and the entire course is double tracked. The start begins on Little Sugarbush with multiple tracks. The course features trails that pass around or near five lakes including a crossing on the west and north end of Bullhead lake. Final grooming will take place either Friday night or early Saturday morning for the Saturday race at 1:00pm. Included with the $20 registration fee will be a special FREE t-shirt to the first 75 registrants. We will also have a special kids race event and of course the wood ski division. More information about the Lotvola Cup can be found on the Maplelag website.

  • Mar 8 Black Lake Loppet (Bemidji, MN)
    • Mar 1 update:
Black Lake Loppet is full speed ahead for Sunday. REGISTRATION FEE "BAILOUT AND STIMULUS" package: Free entry for all skiers. The course is in great shape right now with plenty of snow. Trails are open for skiing all week with the possible exception of Saturday mid-day and later when we'll be re-setting track and churning up the skate lane. New this year, we will be marking a "flatland tour" of approximately 6k that eliminates almost allms of the steep hills.

  • Mar 14 Pole, Pedal, Pant (Maple Grove, MN)
    • May 5 update:
The race organizer and Three River Park District manager did a race course preview and video this afternoon which will be uploaded on the race website soon. The race course including ski, bike and run is holding well while the temp. went up to low 40s today. The ski trail has a huge base which will take 2-3 weeks to melt as the ski trail is on a snow-guaranteed man-made Valley Trail loop (if we don't have a major snowstorm). The course preview and video will be uploaded on the race website soon. Also, the weather will be cooling down this next week. So, we look forward to a great race day on March 14.
