Single Track Escape and Pork Chop Challenge Cyclocross

A Major Cycling and Nordic Skiing Trail Fundraiser is set for the weekend of September 25th and 26th in St. Cloud and consists of the final race in the MN Mountain Bike State Championship Series and the first race for the MN Cyclocross Rider of the Year Series. All proceeds from the events below will be directed back towards ski trail and single track trail development, grooming, snowmaking and maintenance in the St. Cloud area to benefit all area silent sports enthusiasts. In addition Revolution Cycle and Ski of St. Cloud  has donated a Niner frame to be given away at the fundraising raffle on Saturday, and Fitzharris has donated a Kona Cross frame to be given away on Sunday.

The Revolution Cycle and Ski Single Track Escape on September 25th is this years final race of the Minnesota State Championship Mountain Bike Series and is being run on a single track course in St. Cloud at the Graystone North Loop. Racers of all ability from newbies to pros will find a fun and exciting course with lots of single track and open areas to pass. The trail system is open for riders wishing to try out the course in advance of the event. The race will also host the MN State Single Speed Championships to be run in the Sport Race and a male and female state champion for single speed will be crowned.

A number of pros including Women’s Elite racers Jenna Zander (Specialized) and Sara Kylander Johnson (Trek Co-Op) who together have attained numerous Chequamegon and Ore to Shore wins, and Brendan Moore (Trek Co-Op) who was multiple series wins are confirmed for the event. Numerous spectator friendly sections of the course are within easy walking distance from the race start. A raffle will also be held where participants can win a Niner MTB Frame from Revolution Cycle and Ski. Brats will be sold at the event. More information can be found on the race at www.mnscs.com

The Mid Minnesota Cycling Club Pork Chop Challenge Cyclocross is back with its spectator friendly course and fun atmosphere on September 26th at Riverside Park and is a part of the Cross Rider of the Year series. Participants and spectators will enjoy the food, beverages and atmosphere that make this one of the most authentic races of the cross season. Mountain bikes may be used for the cross race by removing bar ends. A chili contest from cyclists in the area highlights the atmosphere at the event. A Kona Cross frame from Firzharris will be given away at the raffle fundraiser. Participant and Door prizes have been donated by; Fitzharris Ski and Sport, Revolution Cycle and Ski, and others.

Individual event racers will also be eligible for door prizes and awards at each event. Come help out the cycling and skiing trails on what is sure to be a fun and memorable weekend for cycling and outdoor enthusiasts in St. Cloud.

In addition this years festivities start early on Thursday, as McCanns Brew Pub http://mccannsfoodandbrewpub.com has donated beer and food for both the event and also a fundraiser that will be held Thursday September 23rd from 4-7pm! Come to the fundraiser at McCanns in St. Cloud and a donation of your choice to the club gets you beverage and food from McCanns Brew Pub from 4-7. All including non cyclists are welcome at this event so bring your friends and help start the weekend off raising money for the trails!
