Midwest Junior Olympic Wax Coaches Sought

The Midwest Junior Olympic Committee is seeking applicants for head glide and kick wax coaches for the 2012 US Junior Olympics. The positions of head kick and glide wax coaches will be selected by the head coach and trip leader. These four positions will make up the executive committee. If interested, please submit a letter of interest which should include your experience as well as qualifications. Letters should be submitted by August 1st. The letter should be sent via email to both John Hugus(head coach) at [email protected] and Bill Pierce(trip leader) at [email protected]

Kick wax coach. The kick wax coach is responsible for the following duties at JOs:

  • Work with and manage wax team in cooperation with glide coach.
  • Kick waxing and testing
  • Relay to athletes what they need to do to get their skis ready for each race
  • Testing wax on course during race and training days
  • Applying kick wax on classic race days
  • Serving as assistant glide wax coach on skate days
  • Maintaining the kick wax inventory while working with trip leader in adhearance to budget needs.

Glide wax coach. The glide wax coach is responsible for the following duties at JOs

  • Work with and manage wax team in cooperation with kick coach.
  • All glide waxing and testing
  • Relays to athletes ski prep responsibilities for each non-race day
  • Purchases glide waxes before the Junior Olympics
  • Keeps inventory of what is left over.
  • Works with trip leader to develop a budget for wax
  • Should have access to test skis and speed trap equipment.
