Summer Club Championships

The Sisu Foundation and the Loppet Foundation are co-sponsoring a two-part race series to determine the best overall ski club - with the prestigious IRON PIG going to the winning club!  The Championships start with a 10 kilometer interval start rollerski race (3K for J3 and J4) at Baker Park followed later by a 10K trail run at Battle Creek in St. Paul.  Racers score by finishing in the top positions in their age groups (Youth (7 and under), J5, J4, J3, J2, J1, OJ, Seniors (20-29), 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+).  The club with the most total points wins the PIG - dressing the PIG in Club apparel and bringing the PIG home for the year.

Participants can participate in either or both events - but obviously competing in both events generates more points for the clubs.  Registration is separate - participation in both events requires registering separately for each event.

While both Sisu and Loppet Nordic Racing (“LNR”) are confident that they will win the IRON PIG, this event is not limited to Sisu and LNR - all clubs are welcome!  Note that individuals are also welcome to participate in both events.

Scoring:

Each club participant scores points for their club.  30 points for first, 25 for second, 21, 18, 16, 15 . . . 1 point for 20th place.  The base score for each participant is multiplied by the number of finishers in the age category - up to a maximum multiplier of x20.  In a category with one person the winner of the category would score 30 x 1 = 30 points for the club.  In a category with 25 finishers, the winner would score 30 x 20 (maximum multiplier) = 600 points for the club.  Categories include: Youth (7 and under), J5, J4, J3, J2, J1, OJ, Seniors (20-29), 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.  The club with the most total points over the two races (Ringer Roll and Battle Creek) wins the Iron Pig!

Example:

The Piggly Wiggly Ski Club has a 42 year-old who comes in 3rd place in his age class (out of ten male finishers) and a J2 who comes in tenth place in her age group (out of 32 female J2s).  The Piggly Wiggly Club receives 21 x 10 = 210 points for the third place finish and 11 x 20 = 220 points for the 10th place finish - for a total of 430 points.
