Hoigaard’s/Minnesota Youth Ski League Team Sprint Series

Hoigaard’s and the Minnesota Youth Ski League (MYSL) invite you to strap on your gear and get ready to ski fast in the Skiwerx Team Sprint Series. After much success last year, we are expanding the race series to include Monday nights at Hyland in addition to Wednesday nights at Wirth. The races are geared toward both adults and youth skiers with a focus on MYSL and Skiwerx racers. Each race is a team sprint, so bring a partner or sign up to be matched with a skier of similar ability.

Registration is on-site only and runs from 5:30pm to 6:15pm in the main chalet at Wirth or Jan’s Place at Hyland (not the visitor’s center). A $5 donation is requested per race, but youth skiers with a Skiwerx racing license ski for free. All proceeds go toward MYSL programs. Races start at 6:30pm.

Each team member will ski three or four laps ranging from 1K to 2.5K. Youth distances are shorter. We will have multiple team divisions: adult (men, women, mixed gender), youth (13 and under), and adult/youth mixed. Even if you can’t race, bring your kids. The series is intended to be an opportunity to introduce young racers to the fun and excitement of ski racing in a low-key event. Winners of random categories will receive prizes, including homemade pies!

Is racing not your thing? We’d love to have you volunteer with us! Volunteers mark the course, assist with registration, and man the exchange zone, among other fun duties. Volunteers have been critical to the success of the sprint series so far, and this year we need at least two or three volunteers per night to pull this event off. It is possible to volunteer and race in the same night, and you’ll be helping to put on an awesome event that benefits over 1800 youth skiers that participate in MYSL programs.

Questions? Suggestions? Want to volunteer? Contact race director Lucy Andrews at [email protected] or MYSL executive director Amy Chichanowski at [email protected].
