Conditions: Air temp. -2F, wind-chill -18F. Very nicely groomed trails. Very slow racing condition.

Elm Creek Park chalet had a very quiet night due to the cold wind-chill factor. Three skiers braved out after putting on a few layers of Warm Skin. The most amazing thing is that each of them picked this tough night to do their first race of this season. After being offered to move the course to the wooded Northern Light and Thicket trails, the skiers wanted to stick with the regular 5k course. The 12-year old Blake Weiss' goal is to race in the big league and get ready for his first City of Lakes Loppet 5k event. Blake, we'll cheer for you! The duo, Paul Ellis and Andy Schakel, pushed each other hard all the way until Paul kicked in another gear after diving in the woods.

Race course: 1 lap of 5K lit trails (Valley Trail loop, Thicket trails, Northern Light trails).

Race distance: 5K, both classic and freestyle, mass start.

Freestyle(F)/Classic
(C)Paul Ellis 15:35 (F) - male skate winner
Andy Schakel 16:12 (F)
Blake Weiss 28:30 (F)
