Racing OutlookDecember 27, 2005
The warm weather is playing havoc on some of the area trail systems, but racing season goes on...
- Dec 28 Duluth TT Series (Duluth, MN)
- Dec 27 update:
Join us Wednesday, Dec 28th, 6pm at Snowflake Nordic for the DXC Wednesday Night Time Trial and Ski Tour Series. This series is open to skiers of ALL abilities and you can choose to race against the clock in the Time Trial format, or ski in the Ski Tour group for a more relaxed, recreational-style tour of the course. This series is FREE to DXC members, suggested $5 donation for non-members. You will also need to have a Snowflake Trail Pass. DXC members can purchase a season membership to Snowflake for 20% off, or a day pass for $5. Snowflake is in excellent shape right now thanks to some incredible grooming. A special thank you should go to Dave Johnson for grooming on Christmas - he put in 6 laps on the 5k with Snowflake's new Yellowstone Ginzu Groomer. This has created a very firm, very fast skate lane. You can use your good skis as there are no bad spots on the trail. - Patti Harvieux, DXC
- Dec 31 Double Pole Derby (Hayward, WI)
- Dec 27 update:
With consideration for everyone’s safety this is an announcement that the Double Pole Derby cross-country ski race scheduled for Saturday, December 31, 2005 will have to be cancelled. Because of snow conditions and safety, it is with regrets that we have to announce that the Double Pole Derby Ski race will NOT be held this year. - Joan Cervenka, race organization
- Dec 31 New Years Challenge (Park Rapids, MN)
- Dec 28 update:
We have preparations going and the trails look really good! We are hoping for the 1-2 inch snowfall forecasted for Thursday to soften things up, but, even if we do not receive any additional snow we will have a fast course! Temps have been steady in the 20's and the trails are in the woods, also with the cloud cover we have not really lost any snow. We will have soup and snacks afterward and door prizes for racers! These trails are a Minnesota grant-in-aid trail system and require a Minnesota ski pass for those 16 and older. - Anne Ellefson, race organization
- Dec 27 update:
Recent trail reports indicate good conditions for the Soaring Eagle race course. Should be a fun first year event! - Bruce Adelsman Check the full racing calendar for more details on these events.
