Grind Up Granite Rollerski and Run Scheduled for Nov 14th

The Wausau East/West ski team is hosting the first ever Grind Up Granite event. The event, to be held on November 14th, consists of three races in which participants can choose how to get up the road to Rib Mountain State Park (aka; Granite Peak). There will be a mass start run/walk that will go first up the two mile run that rises 550 feet to the top of the mountain. It will be followed by rollerskiers who can do either a classic or freestyle ascent or they can do both. The rollerski will be an interval start. Finally, there is a bike option for the hardy November rider. This also will be an interval start. A shuttle will be available to get everyone back down the hill if they choose not to walk or ride their bike.

The road up Rib Mountain was rebuilt a few years ago and includes a walking path on one side of the road and a biking lane on the road. The pavement for rollerskiing and biking is excellent! Going up the hill by walkers or bikers has become an extremely popular activity that rewards those who get to the top with some great views of the area as well as a good cardio workout.

Registration is open online at https://runsignup.com/Race/WI/Wausau/GrindingupGranite and preregistration is very much appreciated since this is the first time this is being run and in the planning process. Come join us for what should be a challenging but rewarding experience for all involved.
