Midwest Junior Championships & Festival: March 2-4, 2018

The MJC, hosted by the Loppet Foundation and the Minnesota Youth Ski League, is a weekend of competitive and festival events focused on youth and young juniors. It is a great way for all middle school school skiers that raced with their High School teams to have a chance at age group competition, as well as a friendly way to introduce younger kids to competition. Hundreds of kids, ranging in age from 4-15, from beginner to more advanced, from around the Midwest will participate. This is the final stop for the Skiwerx Series (www.skiwerxseries.com) and CXC Youth Cup (http://cxcskiing.org/pages/events/cxc-youth-cup.html). Age groups run from U8 to U16.

Weekend Schedule:

  • Friday, March 2 (evening): Classic Age Gap Relays, where adults and kids pair up as relay partners.
  • Saturday, March 3: Classic Individual Start and Classic Tandem Sprint Relays, Festival events include activities ranging from Paintball Biathlon to Obstacle Course to Medallion Hunt.
  • Sunday, March 4: Freestyle Mass Start, Ski-Cross Time Trials, and Mixed Four-Person Freestyle Relays.

Events are held at Theodore Wirth Park, which currently has a solid base of 7.5K man-made snow. Course officials are confident in the options that will be available for a variety of trail and terrain.

Make the most of your winter and keep skiing! It is the best thing young skiers can do for their development, AND a whole lot of fun. Register today! The next registration price hike is Tuesday, February 27, 2018. Click here for more details and to register.
