Duluth Looking for Input on Trail Segment Names

The Duluth Cross-Country Ski Club (DXC) in partnership with Duluth Parks and Recreation is launching a campaign to give names to segments of our local ski trails.  This includes ski trails at Spirit Mountain, Snively-Magney, Hartley, Lester, Chester and Piedmont.  The goal is to improve signage on the trails, and to provide more meaningful names to the ski loops.

This is your opportunity to participate!  Trail names can honor local ski legends or perhaps note a distinguishing feature of the trail.  If you know the former name of a trail or section of trail or would like to submit a name for consideration, please email [email protected].  Names will be reviewed by a committee of DXC members and selected later this summer.  The City will provide signs which we hope to have installed before the start of the ski season.

Please submit naming ideas with a brief description of why you picked the name and the location of the trail or section of trail.

Example: Larry’s Descent (Location: Spirit Mountain, this was what the long downhill at Spirit was called 20 yrs ago)
