For the past ten years, the Sugarbush Trail Association (STA) has been saving to purchase a new Pisten Bully. Our current Pisten Bully was a used machine when purchased in the early 1990’s and its reliability and inability to groom in low snow years has been of increasing concern to us.
Last month an anonymous donor offered a $25,000 gift toward the purchase of a new machine if we can raise matching funds. The funds we have saved, plus the $25,000 and a match, will put us in position to purchase a 2016 lease-return Pisten Bully 100 with very few hours on it. This is a perfect machine for our system and a great opportunity. This week the STA voted to move forward toward the purchase.
We are asking our Skiers and Members to help us raise the $25,000 match with a one-time donation specifically for that purpose. Raising the match is critical. We realize that some of you have already given a gift toward operations this year and may not be able to contribute further.
Maintaining 65km of cross-country ski trails takes much work and good equipment. We want to provide you with one of the best skiing experiences in the State of Minnesota. The new Pisten Bully has new technology and the ability to groom in both low-snow and high snowfall situations to enable us to continue to provide consistent, quality grooming. Many people think the Sugarbush trails are the best in Minnesota. So far this season, 54” of snow has fallen, including a 24” and 12” snowfall. Pisten Bully groomers are the best machines to handle this type of snowfall.
Please help us to achieve our goal. All donations to the Sugarbush Trail Association are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law, as we are a 501-c-3 non-profit corporation.
