Bondurant 1  Chichaqua Valley Trail    20mi      
  Very nice abandoned railroad route. Scenic wooded trail. Pros: Smooth asphalt, gentle grade, no hills. Cons: A few potholes at bridge approaches, rough board deck on Skunk River bridge, road crossings are gravel N.E. of Valeria, no hills. (Submitted by Kevin Moss)  
Council Bluffs 2  Western Historic Trails Center Trail    15K      
  Smooth Asphalt, Only one busy road crossing. Mostly Flat. 30 kl is round trip. Park at Western Trails Museum, South, the other side of I80, from Bluffs Run Casino. Very Smooth, little trail traffic. Great for any training that does not require hills. Pros: Mostly level. Just one road to remove skis for safety. 50% scenic all on the edge of town. Cons: Not long enough and a few hills would be nice. (Submited by Jon Maxwell)  
Waukee 3  Racoon River Valley Trail    160 K      
  Converted railroad bed, running from West Des Moines to Jefferson, Iowa (north and west of Des Moines). Suggestion: park in Waukee at the trail access and head west. Generally flat to gradual slopes (Bob Larson). Pros: Good surface, great scenery. Cons: Caution required at gravel crossings and bridges. Also, watch for a few spots that need repair.
