Notes

Trails are on the golf course. Some nice hills but most of the course is pretty exposed. There is one back leg that is quite shaded and seems to hold snow long after the rest of the course loses it. Rentals at the chalet.

Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 36    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov
Wednesday, February 17, 2016
Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: About an inch of wet snow making it possible to skate. Groomed slightly in rare edges.
I stayed out for 1 1/12 hours and picked my way avoiding ice patches, finding a way around. I avoided going down a couple of the bigger drops, just in case. It was worth (not wirth) it to me! I wouldn't try it in the dark. The glacier is good and the parallel section over the chalet hill is wonderful.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Ice and ungroomed.
Until we get more snow we will not be able to groom the very thin base out there. Much of the trail is glare ice so please be careful. Expect the chalet to close after President's Day for the season.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Poor, icy, limited remaining classic tracks.
Made a try at classic skiing at Como Tuesday afternoon. It was very icy, with the tracks a mess. The skate deck was in marginally better shape but also icy. It was often dangerously difficult to stop on inclines due to the ice.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Packed and fast between 3 and 4pm. Few problematic spots.
I skated mid afternoon and expected a slush fest at 34F. But instead, the course was packed from lots of use (enough edge though) and still fast. Sticky pole plant every now and then, but otherwise, just the way I like it. Coming out from under the bridge there are some muddy spots.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent but softening.
Skate deck was in great shape before noon. Classic was getting a bit sloppy but was still very good and fun.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Good. I skied Friday afternoon in the classic track and only a couple thinning spots. Conditions were pretty good throughout - wish it would last!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
One classic track cut, in solid shape early Friday afternoon. So much better than on Wednesday. Minimal thin spots of grass sneaking through (mostly on the back loop). These are the kinds of days and conditions we live for; get out before it thaws.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Groomed at about 9:00am.
An occasional thin spot in classic tracts but otherwise excellent. Skate lane a bit soft but I expect it has set up by now.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good, fluffy, ungroomed.
Skied classic and benefited from the tracks of those before me. Very fluffy and ungroomed with a few icy thin spots with grass finding its way through. Can't complain at all; just happy we got more snow.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Bare ground ]
Conditions: Poor conditions - icy, dirty and fast!
Skied at 10 AM before the sun started to soften the snow on the trail. Trail is in poor condition with grass and dirt showing in many areas. The downhills are wicked fast and the trails were very icy making holding an edge very difficult. The classic tracks were intermittent but saw someone trying to ski them this morning. Bring your rock skis, some technique and courage when you head out on the trail before we get more snow to cover the trail.
