Notes

Some of the best trails in southern Minnesota. Tucked in the valley behind the school, the trails run around the northern slopes of the valley making them quite challenging and also well protected from the sun. Some lighted sections, and snowmaking operations.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Trails: Closed ]
We have received a soaking rain which has turned our trails from slush to ice in many areas. We will not be grooming again this season. The trails aren't "officially" closed but extreme caution to anyone venturing out.

Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Been spoiled by excellent grooming - but enough folks skied yesterday to set some tracks. Still pretty amazing in that great beauty and sun. Should be good again in the morning Tuesday.

Was a little soft from the fresh grooming, but the skate deck should be perfect on Wednesday if it is not re-groomed!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed all major trails this morning and set track on main 5K loop, River Trail and several inner loops. Conditions couldn't be better; we are buried with snow. The cold temps have firmed up the skate deck and made classic track practically perfect. It can all end soon, so come out to SMU and enjoy the skiing.

Everything rolled then leveled. Track set. Got out there people! Trail should only get firmer and faster as the days pass.

Amazing! All the trails are groomed, tracks set! A hair soft, but really good considering all the snow. Go ski it is beautiful out there! Thanks to Jason Mork today, and to all of the groomers for a great season!

12" of snow made for challenging grooming .The main 5K loop and River trail are firming up and have track set.The upper trails have been packed with the Piston Bully but need a few more passes. The scenery is beautiful. Grooming will continue as needed.

Beautiful conditions, groomed all the trails and reset the track on the Main trail and the River trail. No shortage of snow!

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied this afternoon and the trails were great for a final Birkie practice session. Races were just finishing up, which I suspect led to a modified classic course for today - the last section of the main 5k loop past the orchard to the high point and the return adjacent to the River trail and Herringbone didn't have classic tracks. I was able to easily get to the "high point" with the tracks and the track was groomed to follow the return through the field to bypass the Herringbone. There are several spots on the outside of the classic track with soft snow making pole plants difficult. The skate deck was a little slower on the downhills that it had been a couple weeks ago, but really cannot complain with the conditions after all the snow we've had in the last couple of weeks.

12+" new snow and still snowing as of 4PM. We have been packing all major trails. Conditions are extremely soft for skate skiing but if you like to classic without a track conditions are "interesting". We will continue to pack tomorrow.
