Notes

A great mix of beginner and expert ski trails. With the inclusion of the Jerry Jolly Trails there is about 25 km groomed for skating and classic. There is also an additional 15 km of classic only trails. With views of Lake Superior and the Apostle Islands, this is a very scenic area to ski. There is a nice lodge which sells snacks and food as well as a ski patrol and small downhill area.

Steve and I track packed, flat drug and groomed and tracked: Anchor, Rollercoaster, Sugarbush Dog Trail, and Sugarbush Classic. Probably still a bit soft out there, but I'm sure it will ski better than the ungroomed trails.

Fantastic coverage, just a few spots where there is some melting on Jolly. Anchor as Sugarbush are still great. The only debris on the trail is from pileated woodpeckers.

Skate skied dog trail to sugarbush and jolly loop. Snow was a bit soft and slow, but nicely groomed and still great skiing. Wife skied classic which was pristine.

Spring skiing is still good at Mt. Ashwabay! The trail has plenty of groomed snow for both skate and classic, and minimal debris. Very soft and slower conditions later in the day, but the mornings still are nice and fast. Jolly loop is your best bet, as conditions deteriorate some as you work your way higher in elevation. Get out and enjoy it while it lasts!

This evening I tracked: Sugarbush Dog Trail, Sugarbush Classic, Anchor, and Rollercoaster. Steve plans to touch up the some of the skate lanes in the morning. Still plenty of snow if you want to get out skiing.

Between Dennis and I Anchor, Seagull, Rollercoaster and Jolly Long skate lanes were groomed. Also, I tracked Anchor, Sugarbush Dog Trail and Sugarbush Classic. It was a little cooler than I wanted grooming the tracks, so they were a bit ugly in spots.

Bob and Steve groomed and tracked: Anchor, Jolly Long, Seagull, Seagull Connector, Rollercoaster, Sugarbush Dog Trail, Sugarbush Classic, Oppedahl's and Birch Hill. Dennis is planning on tracking Raven, Deerpath, and Black Bear tonight. About 90% of it came out really nice, some was a bit soft underneath. Some places the tracks didn't set quite full depth.

Steve and I were able to get all the trails packed with the flat drag. With how soft it is and warming temps this afternoon, we will probably wait until tomorrow am to finish groom some of the trails. Good luck at the Birkie, otherwise if you are looking to ski tomorrow, we should have some of the trails fully groomed by then.
