Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 10    Month: Feb | Jan | Dec
Monday, February 8, 2016
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Crusty, some ice.
Skating through the woods wasn't too bad. Lots of icy patches especially near the parking lot. I guess Sunday's warm up did a lot of damage.

The trail was in pretty good shape this afternoon. Mainly stayed out on the golf course and debris was minimal but large icy patches existed.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Good for skating, not so sure about classic.
A little icy in places, but overall good for skating considering we haven't had snow in a while. No bare spots. Amazing job by the groomers.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Icy, some small bare ground patches, need more snow and a bit is in forecast.
Icy, but skatable for intermediate to advanced. Beginners will be frustrated. Striders will be challenged. Expect diverse users like hikers, runners, bikers, and dog walkers. Patches and debris usually avoidable. Some small pebbles worked to the surface on the gravel trail segment, so safer to keep to the golf course out of the northerly parking loop.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Very good. Hit the trail at 8:15. 27 degrees and falling. We lucked out in that we had about an inch of new snow after yesterday's drizzle. A big thanks to the groomers who had already been out and packed everything. Even some pristine cord for skating. No track set but fresh snow in old track provided good grip. Just a few easily avoided dirt spots in the woods. Golf course very good. Ok to use good skis.

Trails are closed to preserve the trail during predicted warm temps and rain. It is anticipated that the trails will be open again some time over the weekend.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Trail is excellent condition.
Skate skied the trail today. Skate deck was very firm. In great shape. A lot of people out, and unfortunately quite a few people hiking or snowshoeing on the trail, but it stayed in great shape.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Soft conditions.
Skied at 9 am. Skate deck was very soft and had been used fairly heavily. But was in decent shapes considering 10 inches of snow we got all at once. Nice to finally have snow. Few more grooms and I'd think it would firm up.
