The City of Superior continues to have its priorities in the correct order! After ceasing grooming weeks ago due to vanishing snow, they chose to take advantage of the fresh stuff and give us "Superior" grooming so my addiction to fresh cord can continue! This is the first time I've seen a City pull out the grooming stuff after they have declared ski season to be over...way to go! There is some awesome cord on the red and green and the groomers are hoping to put tracks in tomorrow. They also went out to the flat side of the yellow to pack and groom! Take advantage of this late season gift they have given us! I used my new skins and they worked great!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
We may have a bonus week of skiing thanks to Mother Nature. After the weekend blizzard, we were able to pack both the red and green trails this morning and are currently grooming them.

We skated and classic skied the red and green trails today. The parking lot area and the start of the red are the worst of the trail. We did the hilly green trail, not the flat one and it was 98% covered! There are only a few spots that are open and easy to get around. The red trail has more open spots so we went back the way we came on the red due to the pines. The trail has very few classic tracks left and is a mix of corn snow, which is super fun, and harder pack. Nothing was icy and scary on the green, just plain old fun!

Family skate ski on the yellow trail. Ongoing grooming still yesterday. There is great skiing on the majority of the trail with some areas of ice, dirty snow, and a couple bare spots in the usual locations where you may want to remove skis. It's well worth the effort and best skiing in the twin ports. Thanks to the groomers for a great season.

Those hard working groomers are still creating their corduroy magic! The red and green had some fresh cord and the tracks were mostly there, just a bit fast. Temps were hovering around 28 or so while I was out there today, Bambi and Woody Woodpecker each made an appearance but I had the rest of the system to myself! Don't let the parking lot area scare you, once you get beyond and onto the green the trail is in great shape with less than a handful of open spots that are easy to get around. The red has the typical places where the pines take away the snow more quickly. Weekend grooming has ceased and the daily grooming will continue through the week...the groomer said they are taking it day by day. It is very well worth the drive for some fantastic skating, not icy either!

Fast, fun spring skating. Recently groomed. There's still a lot of snow on most of the trail but we ran across a couple of bare patches we had to squeak around. Some pine needles and cones here and there. We used our good skis, but you might want B skis soon.

Mostly good. Some debris has fallen on the trail that you have to ski around now. There are two dirt spots underneath thick trees. Still ski-able around all of the debris and the few dirt patches.

Classic skiing was a mixed bag, some icy areas, some new snow in the tracks. Lot of pine cones in some areas. Scrapped off the kick wax and used them for skating. Skating was much better than classic. Groomer was out so there was fresh cord and pretty fast track.

Excellent freshly groomed conditions again today! Thank you groomers! Classic track and skate deck were fresh and the snow was absolutely perfect! Reminder, the Yellow trail and part of the purple will be closed from 6am until 1:30 tomorrow, Sunday for the Stride, Ride, Glide tri! The road to the yellow, orange, purple will also be closed during that time.
