We had a great season of skiing 128 days of good to excellent skiing Nov 13th to March 22 and daily grooming. As I groomed the last few k of trails this morning it was a bittersweet. We had good spring skiing this weekend. We have to close when we can not provide fun and safe skiing every day. With the thin base on downhills and south faces, strong spring sun, and the Montreal River rising with the warm temps, we are closed for the season. As a corporation we have to answer to our insurance company, accountants and board of directors. We charge a trail fee and expect that we can provide you with a good to excellent skiing experience. We want to thank you for your business this season and hope that you have a safe and healthy summer.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Epic spring conditions yesterday and today.
What a glorious way to finish the season. It's really amazing to see Eric working his magic on the trails that were still fully covered; about 30K or so. This morning was the best ever. Frozen cord with enough edge for effortless skiing and not too nerve wrecking downhills. Fun, fun, fun!

Grooming Scheduling

We had a super day of skiing today... we saw many skiers we had not seen all season. The trails tilled up well with the dusting of new snow. I will be grooming for the last time Sunday morning for some good spring skiing again on Sunday. We will be closed in the ski shop and for skiing Sunday at 5 PM.

Grooming Scheduling
[ B skis ]
We had a good day of skiing today...not crowded today because the forecast said it would rain. We had great spring skiing till 4:30 pm when the rain started. It appears that the rain stopped and temps are dropping. We plan to regroom the trails early in the morning, as the temps should continue to drop, with the Pisten Bully. Forecasts call for for 1-3 inches of snow overnight. We plan on grooming and skiing thru Sunday. Monday we will be closed.

Grooming Scheduling
[ Good skis ]
We groomed about 30 km of trails tonight including Hemlock, Jack Pine, White Pine, only two bare spots on Hemlock on the return (easy to avoid using the River Trail for 100 yards along the River). The wide trails Pisten Bully groomed trails are holding snow very well. The trails are covered with a few thin areas on the south slopes but very nice skiing. We will head out to the Highlands in the early morning to see if we can get them in shape for the weekend. We plan to be open through the weekend closing at 5 PM Sunday.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good on trails still accessible.
The river has over run Sulo's loop (limiting access to outer loops) and sun and warmth have taken a toll on some south facing hills, but the trails that were open were great. Hero skier conditions early with fast, transformed snow with good edging on freshly groomed skate deck. Conditions slowed as the day warmed, hastening a switch to fish scale classic skis. Tracks still deep and good on freshly tracked trails, and still decent on older tracks on Jack Pine and White Pine once we crossed one grassy spot.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Just coming in from grooming tonight after our Clydesdales ski earlier this evening. The trails are still looking very good for spring ski condiitons as we had a great ski tonight sampling many of the trails along the Montreal River. I ran the Pisten Bully tonight on River Trail, Popple Flats, Pit Point, Cherry Dairy, Blueberry to the cold feet cut off, Meadow Ridge and the beginning of Peltonen. The best skiing Thursday for recreational will be after the freshly groomed trails soften a bit after 11 AM. Skiers reported a small bare spot on the entrance to Jack Pine tonight under the pines. We will repair this for the weekend.
We are grooming 10-30 km of the trails daily, make sure to check in the ski cabin for up to the minute conditions and a grooming report.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: The trails skied well today, it was just a matter of timing. I "Pisten Bullied" (no hazing) some trails last night and some again this morning so skiers had some soft trails this morning and some firm this afternoon. Tonight's grooming was with the Pisten Bully powertilling and tracksetting after temps cooled. I groomed Blueberry Bluffs, Bards Bump, Meadow Ridge, and River Trail, Popple Flats, Pit Point, Memory lane to the The River House, Bachelors Loop, (Sulos got flooded today about noon). I think the best skiing Wednesday will be after 11 AM.
Spring skiing is so much fun to see the River rise, sun high, temps warm and the wildlife starting to move around.

Grooming
[ B skis ]
Just coming in from grooming. The trail is freezing down again tonight and Angela and I groomed about 10 k. The classic only trails are melting in spots but the Hemlock Jack Pine and White Pine are still skiable as long as the River does not overflow. The best skiing Tuesday will be at 10:30-11 AM when the groomed trails soften. The base is still quite thick and we are grooming daily until the trails melt away or it becomes dangerous to ski. Make sure to check trail conditions in the ski cabin before skiing...

We groomed about 15 km this morning and reset tracks. Snow is holding up well. The river is getting high and is fun to see at this time of year.
