Trail Reports

2017-2018 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 55    Month: May | Apr | Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov | Oct

Evening
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
Considerable snow has been lost since Sunday, and Wolverine was barely skiable tonight with plenty of ground. In places, grass skiing was involved. By the skin of our teeth, we managed 8 months in a row of skiing at Wolverine.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Skiing at Wolverine continues. The conditions today were better than they've been in a while. Two days of cold weather had firmed up the base, and halted major melting. The few thin areas are easily avoided, and the main hill by the Chalet will probably melt out in the coming days. It was great to see other skiers enjoying a beautiful spring day. How much longer will it last? I've included a picture of our first ski at Wolverine this season, over 6 months ago on Oct 28th.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Wolverine is still in good shape. The base is shrinking, but quite firm with only a couple small areas down to the ice base. The poles punch through at times near the edge. Classic was great in the afternoon, especially on the second lap. Hard to say how long it will last. The melt is on, and the end is near. The season started at Wolverine 26 weeks ago. Skiing for half of the 52 weeks is not a bad season.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were rolled last night and trails will be groomed this morning. 16" of snow since Friday and lake effect falling which should diminish around noon today. The Chalet is closed for the season. Thanks to all those who supported Wolverine this year. We still have a very deep base in the 20 plus inch range and no bare spots even in the high exposure, low snow sections. The hill area behind the hospital was icy so the saw horses were put up. Ski that area at your own risk. The rest of the trail system is excellent.

Firsthand: Freestyle Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent, Hero snow for skating, classic tracks were there, but looked a bit rough. Skate lanes were groomed throughout over a trail with 20 or more inches of base. It was a cold and windy day. No fresh snow made the skiing fast. The area behind the hospital is getting icy, and is rutted in places. If we get fresh snow tonight/tomorrow, rumor has it that it will be groomed. Thanks to all the groomers for their dedication to a long season!

Great skiing at Wolverine this morning. Skied all, the grooming was great with plenty of base and fresh tract set. The season pass holders at Wolverine are very lucky to have such a committed groom crew to extend the season for everyone. Thank you!

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Skied all weekend and Monday. Trails were perfectly groomed for both classic and skate. Tracks were glazed and fast in morning and in afternoon softer and slower. Skating is excellent with trails perfectly groomed Monday morning. Everything covered in snow and the cliffs have beautiful ice flows. I am so impressed with Wolverine trail groomers sticking it out this late in the season. Had just a fantastic spring ski. Hope you can make it out. Nice way to end my season.

Mid-Winter conditions continue, with skiing on hard wax, and well groomed trails. It's perfect, and there's not much more to say than that. Get out there and ski!
