Went with a friend to Clearly Lake after reading all the nice reviews, and I found the trails to be among the nicest I have seen, asthetic wise. The grooming in the classic track was a little washed out at times, and not great at times. It appears the trails were not groomed Sunday, as the Chalet is closed. But it is very well lit, and all the trail I used was set in woods, cutting down the wind significantly. A beautiful course. Highly recommend you try it.

Conditions were excellent. Lower Ironwood was a little soft. My wax, FastWax Blue LF, was probably a little warm for the temperature - 12 degrees at the end - so that likely combined with my condition had me struggling to maintain my speed. Nevertheless I hit my target of a 6 mph pace, the first time I have achieved that since mid-January when the cold and real snow came and I transitioned away Hyland's fast artificial snow.

I skated the Lower Ironwood and Lakeside trails this evening. The skate deck is hard with enough snow on top for good edging. The classical tracks are in very good condition, especially on the outer loops. It felt like mid-January. Thank you to the groomers for excellent conditions. Get out and enjoy!

Windy and chilly! Trails were groomed for skating and tracked for classic this morning. The strong winds knocked down a few small branches and oak leaves on to the trail. Some drifting across the trail near the lake. Overall still in very good condition but watch out for the fresh debris on the trail. Also, be careful going across the paved trail due to truck wheel tracks!

Trails are in fantastic shape. All trails are groomed for skating and tracked for classic. Soft base from Wednesday's storm.
Break out your A skis!

I skated all but the Lower Ironwood this evening. The skate lanes are in excellent condition. The temp dropped off after sunset, resulting in slower conditions than yesterday afternoon. The classical tracks are very good overall, with a few oak leaves here and there and a couple of washouts around the sharp curves. The rising full moon cast some great shadows on the trail after the daylight faded. Thank you to the Cleary groomers!

Great evening ski at Cleary Lake. Trail was well packed and fun. Classic trail seemed to be well set. Little soft on the edges of the trail but overall very good. Only thin area was off the big downhill going through the swamp. Was out there after the sun went down - so a little difficult to pick out the trail - some high grasses poking through that area.

Started skiing just after the snow of the early morning and early afternoon. Classic tracks fully set. Skate deck was soft with a lot of snow to ski through. Lower Ironwood still not open. Fun to see the MSYL kids out there on real snow!
