Notes

The trail is an abandoned railroad grade that has been developed for recreation. It runs from WI County Road S north of Chippewa Falls to Cornell WI. The most scenic stretch is between the towns of Jim Falls and Cornell where it follows the Chippewa River. It is a nice trail to relax and enjoy nature while getting an easy workout. Doing the trail from trailhead to trailhead and back will provide a 32.8 mile course. It is an enjoyable way to spend a morning or afternoon (Bruce Kuehl). Pros: Nice scenery. Farmland, woods, river, wetland, wildlife. Nicely paved blacktop surface. Seldom crowded. Jim Falls and Cornell have businesses near by where you can get refreshments.Level and straight (no hills, few curves). Cons: Rollerbladers/skiers should note that the blacktop is slightly worn in the middle of the trail from snowmobiles, but is in generally good condition for skiing along the sides. Level and straight (no hills, few curves).
