[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Skied the entire Gold trail at 5:00 pm. Despite temperatures in the mid 30s the deck was solid and reasonably fast. They continue to Piston Bully groom. Trails that are open are Summit, Bronze, Biwabik Spur, Silver, Cedar, and Gold. Most trails are groomed both skate and classic however Silver is only groomed for skating. Closed trails are now Oslo, Wynne Creek, Laurentian, and Northern Lights. These are trails that have high sun exposure. This is a wonderful time a year to get out and enjoy the snow in moderate temperatures with extended daylight.

An after work ski around the outer banks and the trails were blushing with the recent snowblower of wind. The Laurentian, Wynne Creek, Summit, Biwabik Spur, Oslo & Bronze had nicely set, deep tracks, and surprisingly not much leaf debris. In a 5 star rating, I'd wish for a track to leave the South Chalet and stadium. Then while finishing up, another wish for a glorious ending... to have a track from the Bronze Trail, back to the Chalet. But the corduroy was nice too.

Skied classic at Giant's Ridge in near perfect conditions Friday-- unexpected sunshine and mid-20's temps-- all trails were freshly rolled and tracked and snow immaculate. Crowds were a problem: no one was skiing, saw 3 people going our direction and met 3 others coming towards us when on two way trails. Easily a top ten ski day which, given we are in our 70's and have been skiing since childhood, is high praise.

Giants Ridge is in spectacular condition. Gold, Silver and Cedar loops are perfectly groomed and have little or no debris. The skate deck is firm and the tracks are cut deep. The photos are from the end of the Cedar trail just as the moon was rising.

Excellent skiing yesterday and today -- couldn't ask for better. Deep tracks set in hard, crisp snow made for great skiing both days. We did Northern Lights, Summit, Biwabik Spur and Bronze trails yesterday and Bronze and Oslo trails today. Almost no one out. The skate deck looked great but we only saw two skaters today. Saw no other classic skiers yesterday and only 3 others today.

Excellent conditions today at Giants Ridge. Fresh grooming after the recent snowfall made for a great day of skiing. The skate deck was firm and the classic track looked perfect. No issues with debris. I skied the Gold, Cedar and Silver loops, all in great shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Giants Ridge has received 10" in the last 48 hours, and 12" in the last 7 days. Since the most recent snow, All the trails (except silver) have been rolled and then groomed, and tracked with the Pisten Bully. The silver trail has been rolled, and will be tilled this afternoon. With this new snow, the conditions should be fantastic for the weekend!

Giants Ridge trails are in great shape. Tracks were virtually perfect everywhere except a couple places where they ran the PistenBully over the inside track. Perfect midwinter skiing - no dirt showing anywhere, skate deck firm corduroy most places, with some pretty soft sections on the Biwabik Spur trail. We classic skied almost the entire system and the only thing that prevented perfect striding conditions was some leaves in the tracks, especially on the Bronze and Oslo climb to end of Biwabik Spur. Skated the Silver and the skate deck there was perfect. Definitely was worth the drive to get our fill of "real" skiing.
