Thank you to whomever groomed the Onion river road after this gloomy 4" spring snow. It was good to get one last ski in. Trail was very soft and slow on the skate deck. Was worth it to me, but it was a fight. No danger of hitting earth. Classic skiing is probably better.

Onion River skate deck was touched up again between yesterday and today and it's very nice - firm and fast. There's still a lot of snow here. Tree litter is occasional but on less than 1% of the trail so B skis might be better, or just wiggle your way through on good skis - it's not too difficult. Classic track was not reset but it's still skiable and there may be more skiers striding than skating. But the track has deteriorated and collected enough debris to make rocks skis a better choice.

Two inches of new snow gave groomers another reason to refresh Sugarbush trails (Oberg, Onion River, Britton). We skied Hogback Loop this morning, what a delight and gift! The skate deck is firm with beautiful powder corduroy. The trails at Britton have not been re-groomed for 2-3 weeks, setting new tracks over the old was difficult with a 5/10 result but where the tracks were set on the opposite side of the trail the tracks were perfect! The tracks are powder at this time, temps look favorable through the weekend to maintain the powder so come up and enjoy! Note: There is a 3-4ft area of burn through on the side of the trail near the D intersection coming from or heading out to F intersection -- this can be easily skied around.

Well groomed trails. Today light snow fell all day. Some parts of the trail were slow but most of it was great. No one out there.

I classic skied the Onion River Road and it had very recently been groomed. (Not bad for April 2!). The skate deck looked in fantastic shape, and the classic tracks were good, but just a bit icy at the beginning. The sun was out and it was really a perfect day for April skiing.

I drove up this morning after reading the grooming report night and skated Onion River - it's firm, fast and very nice - your good skis would feel right at home. A classic track has been touched up on one side of the trail and it's not mid-winter perfect but it looked very good - deep enough to hold your skis, clean, not broken down and not litter filled.

Went out for a short ski, but the conditions were better than I anticipated so I ended up skiing the Picnic loop. The snow is in spring conditions. The south facing hills had corn snow- they were soft but not slow. Lots of snow all around. There are a few ice flows on the Homestead loop but they were obvious and not too difficult to avoid. More skiing to be had up here but you need to watch the temperature to avoid the morning freeze conditions.

Great skiing out of the Moose Fence trailhead at Sugarbush today on skin skiis which are revolutionizing spring classic skiing up here in the Northland. There appeared to be a 1 1/2 foot packed base still with no open areas. If they continue to groom there could be a couple more weeks of good spring skiing left.
