Trail received 12-14" of new snow over this past weekend. All loops of the trail were packed, groomed, and a track set Tuesday by USFS staff. The track should have set up well last night with cold temps. The trail condition is excellent.

Skied most of the trail on Saturday. This is a single classic track in the woods. Very scenic and serene. According to previous reports the trails had been groomed four days previous, but they hadn't had much traffic and were in very good condition. It was cold and the tracks were very fast. I would avoid the swamp loop, lots of little moguls and you don't get much rhythm. Intermediate downhills were fast, but skiable, we avoided the advanced loop with the caution warning. First time here, but it is worth coming back to.

Groomed and tracked today. Solid base, good track. No rocks to worry about. Tracked the swamp loop also. Watch for logging trucks hauling by the parking lot!

Skied here both Sunday and Monday. Generally good conditions throughout the system with only a few exceptions. The east end trails have well defined tracks with only some littering of pine needles. The long roller coaster downhill from 6 to 7 was a blast. The more open aspen dominant areas are firm with a light dusting of powder and perfect. The western trails had modest use and were mostly good. A very short section near the power lines got run through with a four wheeler. Keep your wits about you on the black section around the old west shelter site. Navigating the downhills took a well committed snowplow technique to stay upright, as recent melting and freezing didn't leave much give in the track. It was a wonderful two days of skiing. Thanks to Mark for taking care of these trails.

The old backyard was skiing great today. Despite the warm temps the tracks were mostly firm and fast. Always fun to ski Big Aspen!
