Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All trails are open; most are getting groomed for skating daily. Very fast, yet still plenty of control. Wore my World Cup skis this morning with no worries. There is very little debris on the snow. I skated from 8am until 9:30am and it was still good when I left. It would be great to see some new faces at Valleys Spur this weekend, we die-hards don't even bother saying 'Hi' anymore...we just go past with big smiles on our faces. I guarantee you will not be disappointed no matter how far you have to drive to get here. I do recommend getting on the snow early. Classic won't be bad after temps soften snow because there are still tracks out there as of this morning.

Morning
Firsthand: Both Secondhand
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
All the trails are open and most of them are groomed for classic and skate. With 14" of fresh snow Sunday and Monday, Dan was out grooming Tuesday and today. Tracks are deep and solid. Awesome day with great kick and glide. Classic skied hard for 1 hour and a half, switched to skating and did the same. Deck was still a bit soft but well groomed. By the time I left at 12:30 it had softened enough to know that tomorrow will be blazing fast without being icy. Dan is still grooming and I can not wait for tonight's cold temps. This is truly Nordic heaven with bright blue sky, temps rising into upper 30s then falling below freezing at night making every morning an adventure in speed skiing. Hoping for a good crowd this weekend...Who knows, maybe a Snow Flea Hoppet tour.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Valley Spur has gotten a ton of snow over the past 3 days that has been groomed in daily with the lions share of it being last nights 8 inches of fluff. Groomed A,B,C,D,X,W and the first loop on G this morning. Will work on getting all other loops open Wednesday. Things are looking very good weather wise through the weekend so if your into some great late Spring skiing come here. We have snow!

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great conditions still at Valley Spur. We still have a very deep base in the 20 inch range and no bare spots even in the hi exposure low snow sections. As long as we have cold enough temps and fresh snow to work with we will continue to groom. Things are looking good through the weekend for sure.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Great conditions once again at Valley Spur. We have gotten a lot of snow over the last week and temps have stayed below freezing overnight and not much above freezing if at all during the day so conditions are holding well. Our base remains in the 20 inch range. Lots of die hard skiers coming in from all around to enjoy these mid winter conditions.

1-2" of snow overnight, but all we need on top of a foot and a half base and 8" of snow on Sat. Dave is out with the Jeep and big ginzu grooming. Conditions are looking good through early next week.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Weekend snow event left 8"+. Dan groomed some on Saturday, then did the entire system Sunday morning. Classic tracks are in excellent condition. Rest of week shows cooler temps and more snow, so groomers will be out as needed. Lodge is open all week. Good turnout of skiers today.

Evening
Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
Finished grooming skate lanes on C/Y/W this evening. Groomed A/B/D this morning. We will continue to groom a portion of the skate lanes each day as long as the weather cooperates(freezing overnight.) We still have a good base, but need some fresh snow to reset classic tracks.

Don't put your skis away just yet! This spring break, instead of going south, we drove north 3 hours, 40 minutes from Sheboygan, WI to Munising, MI. We were rewarded with excellent skate ski conditions at Valley Spur on both Sunday and Monday. Valley Spur has a very deep snow base. However, timing is everything! The skate deck was groomed daily by approx. 9:00 am (corduroy) for great control. Conditions were fast and fun in the morning, slowing in the sunny spots in the afternoon, but still fun. Classic tracks were firm and fast as we occasionally double-poled and skied the long, straight downhills in them, especially where the skate path began to soften. Oh yes, don't forget to apply sun screen!

Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Excellent skate conditions continue. Every morning lanes are lightly dressed with a ginzu, so skating is as good as it gets. Good edge, solid pole plants on a flat deck. Temps barely over 32F in the day and low teens over night makes for easy grooming of our 18-20" base.
