Trail Reports

2015-2016 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 67    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan | Dec | Nov

Observation
Conditions: Wait til next season. Stupid El Nino!!
We went from a very beautiful 4" bombproof base and 10" of very dense snow in the woods to icy patches in a matter of 3 days. Same results in most places up north (very sick way too early top put away the skis). Since we all got totally jipped and only had about 10 weeks of skiing this season, I'm calling on the weather gods to produce a first ever 5 month season next year Nov-April(2017) with lots of snow and below seasonal temps throughout, followed by at least a 16 week season in 2018 with lots of snow and cold temps. Did I mention lots of snow! Have a great summer!

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Best classic skiing of the year at Greenbush this morning if you finished by 9:30 am. Jeff groomed and reset track on the entire trail system. Setting the track a little shallower made for perfect conditions. By 9:30 it was starting to get slow. Thanks to Jeff for the many many hours of grooming this year.

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent conditions, all trails groomed this morning. Jeff started grooming at 4:30am.
Have a blast, this might be the last hurrah. Use good skis.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Fair to good for skating; good for classic.
Greenbush does not appear to have been groomed after the snowfall on the night from Friday to Saturday. Skate deck was soft on all trails but purple, which by the afternoon has seen enough traffic to firm up. Classic tracks were fine on purple and also looked good on other trails.

Beautiful clean snow today as I skied the purple, green and brown trail. The skate deck is still soft but not as soft as yesterday. The groomers was out as I was skiing.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Excellent for skate. Twice groomed packed to 3 inches over hard base = race skis.
Skated 32K on Brown, Purple and Green between 10 and 12:30. Groomed day before, Green was soft (few skiers) Purple and Brown were skied in more. Groomer started again around Noon and I got to put first traces on some of Purple / Green and it was excellent. Used B skis but could have used race skis. Greenbush magic microclimate and grooming came through again to yield best ever post Birkie skiing.

Evening
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Great late season conditions.
Considering ski season looked like it was over last week, this new snow is great. Skied purple Wednesday night, skate deck was a little soft, but overall great coverage and should hopefully last the week. Tracks looked good from what I could see.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Purple trail, classic track fair to good Wednesday at 5pm.
There were a few spots where the ground was showing, but not too bothersome. The track was not too firm, so my left ski was sliding down-slope (to the left) which is the reason for the "fair", mostly on the west side. You can use the skate deck as needed, which seemed pretty good. All things considered, very scenic and appreciated. Thanks to the groomer for the March skiing.

Morning

Greenbush received about 5 inches of cold dry snow. The trails are groomed but did not set up very well last night. Skating is soft but you can use your good skis. Track is excellent in places and down to bare ground in other places. I would avoid the back side of the purple trail as the tracks are down to bare ground in some places.
