Thank you mora for a great race, you did a lot and put on a great race despite the crappy winter we are having and lack of snow! Thanks for all your hard work! Not a single small scratch on my skis. I'll be back! Great race, friendly people and awesome weekend. I love the layout of the course. The scenery was very nice and the finishing line was phenomenal. Thanks again!

Traveled to Mora to find snow and was quite pleased. A bit icy in many spots, but also quite nice in others. The snowmaking crew was out doing their magic! So grateful for people so dedicated to keeping and maintaining good ski trails.

Skiing conditions are excellent after large scale snow making and hauling efforts the past several days. All main sections of the Vasaloppet race course through the Nordic Center have been covered with a heavy layer of artificial snow. Amy's Alley Trail has also received a layer of artificial snow and the "Oaks Trail" not used for several years, received snow and was groomed this afternoon. A complete finishing grooming tonight for Saturday's Moraloppet.

Skated the Round Top loop, a little ice and dirt here and there but they're making the most of what they have and it was worth the trip. They were actively grooming on this loop and I had it to myself until noon. Snow maker was going in the parking lot and they are hauling snow out onto the trails.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial ]
Vasaloppet trail volunteers were undaunted by the warm weather and were busy Thursday afternoon and evening spreading and grooming trails with snow from the stockpile of artificial snow at the Nordic Center. Vasaloppet snowmaking operations built up a large stockpile of snow before warmer weather forced a halt of snowmaking. That stockpile needed to be removed before snowmaking operations resume once temperatures get cold enough next week. The February 11 Vasaloppet race is scheduled to run point-to-point from Warman to downtown Mora. The alternate course remains multiple 10-15km laps on Nordic Center trails with the race starting and ending in downtown Mora.

Skiing conditions at the Nordic Center have greatly improved thanks to several light snowfalls in the past week. After today's grooming of the 35km/58km loop north to County Road 70, skate skiing is is now good to very good. With the snowmaking system back in operation trail volunteers today have fixed the icy conditions near the Nordic Center with plenty of new snow. The Bowl area uphills and downhills are in much improved condition after the recent snowfalls and are now skiable. The steep eastbound uphill in off the Bowl still has some ice. Skiing carefully up the hill is OK. Any hard V1 could push the snow off the ice. Artificial snow will be placed in the Bowl hopefully over the next few days. The Ridge Trail and Eastern Flats are skiable but not re-groomed as of this afternoon due to time volunteers can spend out in cold and wind. These areas should be done over the next couple days. Setting of classic tracks will be attempted Thursday, but as of this afternoon no tracks have been able to be set. The resumption of snowmaking means volunteers will be hauling snow onto the trail system at various times so skiers should be aware they may encounter machinery on the trails.

The warmer weather the past two days have turned good skiing conditions at the Vasaloppet Nordic Center to fair conditions. The trails 1km north of the Nordic Center held up remarkably well despite the six-team high school ski meet on Tuesday and warm with on Wednesday, but still deserve a "fair condition" label. The trails further north of the Nordic Center are fair to good. Immediately around the Nordic Center, because of heavy traffic and the ski meet conditions are could be rated fair to poor depending on your perspective. There is not yet enough snow to set classic tracks.

Most Nordic Center trails have been groomed and are in fair to good skiing conditions although it is not yet possible to set classic track. Ridge trail has been groomed, but this newer section of trail is still rough without a little more snow.
