Very poor conditions. Got about two inches of light fluffy snow last night into today. Did not groom and had no previous base.

Skate skied the Red Loop at Zillmer from 11am-noon after work. Except for a couple bare 10ft sections where you need to shimmy thru, the trail looks great. Should be great skiing Sunday morning. Staff now have posted signs at all parking lots stating that the trail is only open for skiing and closed to hiking. There are plans to use this remaining layer as a base for future snowfall.

Skied Zillmer this morning with my "rock" skate skis. The Yellow loop seems to be getting the most sun and warming up first. The other loops seemed alright but Yellow has a softball size rock in the middle of the trail on the second climb right before the Ice Age Visitor Center. Then on the second decline after the visitor center it makes a sharp right into another decline and there's some baseball size rocks exposed that are hard to avoid. In general, the trails seem pretty good for poor conditions but in places the warmer weather is melting some of the edges. If nicer skis are all you have, I recommend sticking to the Red loop or shorter. As I was leaving I talked with some classic skiers and they commented that it was too warm for Swix Blue kick wax.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Groomed all loops this morning. We received about an inch of fluff yesterday. There is a 1-2 inch base throughout. No track set. Very thin coverage with lots of litter throughout. Fair conditions today but will deteriorate with warmer weather.

Grooming

Reagan rolled all loops this afternoon. Sticks/debris were removed from trail but more might come down with the heavy wet snow still in the tree tops. The trail is still thin with some debris sticking through, so rock skis are recommended. There were some hikers earlier when grooming was started but the cold temps tonight should give us a nice base to start with. Hope for more snow and cold weather to stay.
