Spirit got 8-10" of air filled fluff early this morning grooming was difficult as there was ice under the snow from previous melts. The snow did pack down to about 2.5" so tracks were set in the campground and on the 3k. Due to high winds last week there's a lot of debris on the trail including a huge popple on the 10k loop. The 10k was rolled to the cutoff coming into the 3k loop. Watch out for ice under the snow ski with caution.

Still good conditions at noon. As I skied I wasn't cutting deep into the snow. The last 5 minutes on the campground loop I started leaving impressions. So, that meant it was time to be done. The 10k was recently groomed. I can honestly say the skate deck was soft and very slow yet firm. There was still a hard icy layer under the top layer that was acting as a refrigerant keeping the skate deck together. I'm guessing with more sunshine and warm weather the conditions will deteriorate. Skied the 10k, minus the 1.5 k most difficult loops, the 3k and campground loop. The downhills we sticky slow. I would recommend skiing in the morning and late afternoon/early evening.

Took the connector from Magney. The tracks seemed less glazed at Spirit (compared to Magney), maybe because a bit warmer (11am)? Also we finally put warm enough wax on (55). Watched a bit of the JV/JH race while eating our lunch and rewaxing. That was fun.

Skied Spirit at midday. Skated the "10K" loop and the Campground trails. The 10K deck was a bit soft while the campground trails were hard and fast. Take your pick, but coverage is perfect on all. A warning for non-experts: the "Easier" 10K trail is only groomed to the midpoint from the parking lot. From there you have to ski the "Most Difficult" trail to get back unless you reverse course and ski against the flow. There are a couple hair-raising descents on the "Most Difficult" stretch. Fun, but more excitement than I planned for.

Great stuff out at Spirit! I skated the 10k and 3k and found beautiful conditions. It is still a little soft in places, but nothing to complain about! The classic track looked perfect. Thanks Tone!

Conditions were better than expected for the Nordic Spirit race. A light coating of snow post thaw made for a fast but manageable course. There were some dirty spots, a few rocks, and a few patches of ice, but nothing unavoidable.

Spirit trails were Very nice. Groomed recently but no tracks. Base is thin and surface follows ground underying shape. Fast but not icy. Should be a fast fun race course Sunday.
