Firsthand: Classic
[ B skis ]
We classic skied and there was a lot of snow left! The snow is 100% connected. There was dirt showing through in just a handful of spots on the tracks and they were easy to get around. Maybe two places had more exposed but snow was there to get past them. Tracks were surprisingly solid except for a couple of turns where they were a bit misshapen. Unfortunately someone walked directly on the tracks for the majority of the trail and left deep footprints.

30 F, overcast, calm. The tracks are in great condition, currently hard and fast. At some point today there will be a sweet spot with the air temp and snow softness. Didn't have good grip with my skins unfortunately. Gentle trail etiquette reminder: on these trails groomed only for classic, please remember to herring bone up the right hand side of a double tracked trail. That leaves the left set of tracks intact for skiers who can stride up the hill.

Ten million thanks to the city groomers for rolling and placing classic tracks at Hartley! It was beyond wonderful to ski this morning on a perfectly groomed trail. Heavenly!

Nice deep track from skiers. The parking lot is plowed and just a few others out enjoying the trails. Would recommend Hartley over Piedmont until more skiers get out to ski in a track at Piedmont.

At least 12" of fresh snow and still coming down in the early evening. Skier made tracks by several people. The snow was heavy and dense and it felt like an early November ski.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Most of the ground is covered. I never had to take my skis off, but I probably should've. I fell once because I hit a rock or stick or something that stopped me. So if you take your time I think you'll be fine. I did the Outer loop. I don't think I'll be back until it snows again.

I did the Outer Loop x2. Some roots exposed, and some pine needles in many different places, but I still was able to ski OK. Surprisingly, even some semblance of a classic track in places.

I skied the easy loop on Monday mid morning after the groomer just came through. The tracks are very shallow in a handful of spots and pretty icy in others. For the amount of snow out there, they aren't too bad!

Sunny, calm, 5F. The tracks are shallow and inconsistent, but not bad considering how little snow we have. Easy to use good skis and avoid the occasional grass, sticks poking through. One big chunk of wood on the inner green loop; needs a saw to remove. Might be a more enjoyable ski with wider skis.

We got to Hartley and they had just rolled it again, no tracks yet. Had I been skating I would have been thrilled. The surface is a mix of mini moguls, flat parts, some weeds sticking through mostly on the edges, a few icy spots nothing major though, and firm in spots, mushy in others. No debris at all.
