Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
Attempted some grooming on Cedar Lake and Cedar lake Park this afternoon. Cedar Lake Park Trail is good in the woods, but bare on the prairie. Hidden beach is all sand. The plowed snow on Cedar lake provided decent skate skiing today, but it was too thin to set a classic track by late afternoon. Brownie Lake is the same. The trail up from Brownie to the 394 bridge is bare. B skis if you stay on the lake, otherwise rock skis.

CAUTION: There is a hole in the ice in the Kenilworth Channel. It is on the east side of the Burnham bridge. Thin Ice signs have been placed on both sides of it.

Night
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Went out for an evening ski about 8:00 p.m. tonight on the lakes. Track was mostly pretty good with a few sections of bare ice. Tracks were somewhat icy but super fast. Skied from Isles through Cedar and around Brownie and back. All in all still decent. CAUTION: there's an actual hole in the ice on the south side of the track between the two bridges over the channel. It's just past the western bridge and big enough to fall into. I didn't see it in time and dropped a ski in up to about my shin. I'm sure the trail crew will mark it with a barrier of some sort, but be careful if you're out early in the morning or late at night. Morning
Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed all the lakes and spur trails. Classic tracks are shallow and icy. Cedar and Brownie have best classic tracks. Isles classic tracks are quite blown and and was not able to reset. Loads of fatbike tracks that I could not groom out. Go enjoy.

Groomed and ready to go for your skiing enjoyment. Great coverage still on the whole loop. Watch for debris on channel between Isles and Cedar, some tree work was done. Classic tracks for the most are holding up quite well.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
Groomed all of the skate lanes on Isles, Cedar, Brownie, the two spur trails off of Cedar Lake, and up and over the 394 bridge. Able to use good skis on the lakes except for a couple spots on the canal between Isles and Cedar (sticks) and under a couple of the wide bridges (straight ice). Spur trails have too many sticks and grass spots for good skis. Did not set new tracks - they were mostly in good shape.

[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Had so much fun skiing the Chain of Lakes and Theo South today! Always fun to see skiers on the lakes. Quite a few footprints by the time I skied at 2 pm but overall decent shape minus coverage underneath the bridges. This is the best the lakes and Theo South have been in years! Also skied Eloise, the Bog, and Wirth Lake. Thanks to the Loppet Foundation for some fun new changes to the trails, I've never had so much fun skiing in Theodore Wirth as I have had this year!

After skiing South Wirth, skied across the bridge over 394 (snow covered but a lot of roadway debris), and then down onto Brownie. Nice track on Brownie and good skate lane. Tunnel to Cedar is glare ice. Skied off Cedar and onto the trail heading towards downtown, found some thin/grassy areas but nothing serious. Only somewhat dicey segment was coming back onto Cedar, the beach area there has exposed dirt/sand. Skied up to the Cedar-Isles channel, found a couple of sections where they had recently cleared trees and there was a lot of debris. Out onto Isles to check out the Loppet luminaries on the north end, then headed back. Tracks on the lake varied from quite good to very shallow. Overall, still a nice ski and didn't pick up any new scratches.
