I skate skied almost all the trails today. There is still some pretty good skiing out there. There are rough spots throughout the system but especially in Evergreen Park. The snow just started falling as I finished this morning. You should be able to ski the system this afternoon and perhaps early evening. I hope to get out tomorrow morning to start grooming any new snow.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Rock skis ]
Almost all trails have been smoothed over with the groomer this morning. Be careful on downhills and where trails go over paved roads. Dirt and icy areas found in some areas.

[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
I skied all the trails that have been groomed. There are two cut-off trail segments that have not been groomed yet. Skiing is generally pretty good. There is some dirt and leaves showing. Use caution when going down hills. Maywood north has a lot of hiking damage to the trail. The steep hill going up into Evergreen Park has lots of debris. Most sections are good for B skis but there is some exposed dirt and roots. Since the base is not real deep your pole tips will go through to pavement in those sections where the trail goes over paved road. A good number of skiers out despite the cold day. Good to see old friends again. I will attempt to clean-up as much of the trail as I can tomorrow morning.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
We received 4"-6" of fluffy snow last night and today. We had lake effect snow until 4:00 today. We groomed all trails in both Evergreen and Maywood. No classic track was set as the snow packed to a thin base. There is some dirt showing in spots. I will give it a ski tomorrow and give an update on conditions after I am done. Enjoy!

Firsthand Grooming
[ Trails Open: Partial, B skis ]
After grooming this morning I skied a few loops on the Maywood trails north of the river. It was really nice. It is bare under the pines to the extreme north of the trail. There is some ice under the snow. The downhill is thin. I would use extreme caution going downhill as the warm weather and sun will cause it to deteriorate rapidly.
I looked at the trail south of the river. No grooming has occurred there but skiers, snowshoers, and fat tire bikers have used it.
Tomorrow morning the staff at Maywood will be working on the trail, preparing it for a night hike on Saturday. Best skiing will be today. If you come early enough you may be able to get a ski in tomorrow morning. Because of the trail work and warming temperatures the ski trail may not be useable from midmorning tomorrow until we get new snow.
