Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: All, B skis ]
The base is pretty thin but the skating was nothing short of spectacular: fast with good control after Jerry took the scarifier over the trails and set classic track earlier this afternoon. I only skied the upper and lower meadow trails and the first loop in the woods. I didn't not go to on the other woods trails. But I would rate the trails very good. I suggested B skis if you have them, but there is nary a rock, only a few dirt spots on the side that are easily avoided, so you'd be safe with racing skis, in my opinion. Classic tracks look solid though there are some spots where the ground has broken through.

Out around 10AM - great firm and fast base with good coverage. Skied upper and lower fields. Just enough post grooming surface snow for amazing skiing - some of the best all season. Nice day to be out at CLCF!

Super today. I arrived at 8:30 and Jerry was leaving. It is super good today. One of the best days of the season for snow quality!

Conditions for skate skiing are very good. Classic tracks have not been set yet. There is complete coverage and most of the ruts from yesterday have been groomed out.

Jerry got out there and did his thing. I was only person who had skied as of 2 pm. Decent. Where the snowmobile turns with the trail there are impressions. Straightaways very good.

I was out at sunrise today and found fairly good conditions though I didn't venture into the woods. There are a few areas of bare ground where you'll need to walk and debris that are easily avoided. Thanks Jerry for the great grooming to allow continued skiing despite the warm daytime temperatures.

Base in fields holding up well. Able to hit transition from icy fast to softer snow around 10AM. Control was good later in the morning. Nice circuit from lot to base of woods, did not ski woods. Appreciate all the grooming efforts - great to be out.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The skate deck has been re-groomed, classic tracks (icy) left intact.   The East and West Loop in the woods, Corkscrew, and Tip Over have all been groomed.

When I arrived around 10 AM the field trails and the first wooded trail were very fast and pretty icy. But Jerry arrived, took the Tidd Tech around the upper field trails, and the skiing was excellent. By noon the sun and warm temps had transformed the snow that hadn't been groomed, and it was also very skiable but getting softer and slower. There is plenty of snow and it should be good Tuesday morning. Good skis are fine; there are some dirty spots but no rocks. That could be different in the West Wood, which I didn't ski.

Out again at 9:30 following grooming efforts by Jerry Gensch - base was firm with just enough "shaved ice" to provide some fun fast skiing. Coverage in the fields remains decent. Debris in woods more pronounced but still skiable - for now. Transient hoar frost on trees a bonus this morning.
