Grooming
[ Good skis ]
1.5 inches of new snow on Sunday. All trails groomed this morning and tracks set. Lowered the rakers on the groomer the last two groomings to shave down the humps for a smoother trail surface with fewer humps.

Morning
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: A little new snow preceded the freshly groomed (2-5) outer loop. Tracks and skating lane pristine. 100% coverage.
Before noon at least a dozen citizen skiers took advantage of the freshly groomed outer trails or enjoyed skiing in the coating of new snow into the previously set classic tracks on the inner loops and connecting trails. Section 8 State-bound skiers got in some morning classical skiing before the day warmed up and waxing could get complicated. Nice to see so many people using this hidden gem of a trail system.

Grooming

No snow today like was forecast, but 1 inch fell earlier in the week so the outer loop only was groomed. Skating lane and tracks were set.

Still in really good shape considering how little snow we have. Skate lanes fast. Classic tracks still functional, although there is a little grass occasionally showing. We got a half inch of snow today, which made things a little slippery in the tracks.

Grooming
3/4 inch snowfall Wednesday night groomed today. All skating lanes groomed and track reset on outer loop. Inside segments not touched with groomer but very skiable. Temp was 28 degrees at grooming. Should set up well overnight and firm and fast for some cold weather skiing.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Good conditions with some debris in the classic tracks. Skied outer loop and interior trails. The interior trails were not as skied out as outer loop since they are only classic.
The trail layout is well thought out with a nice mixture of classic and skate trails. Could use more snow, but coming from St. Cloud we relished the snow. Beautiful sunny day.

Afternoon

Conditions: Very good tracks for classic skiing. Skate lanes look very good too.
This was a great way to bring in the new year of 2016. We pulled into the parking lot and met a very nice DNR officer - please remember to purchase a MN trail pass. Snow on the trails was very good. We are classic skiers and the tracks were in very good shape. We skied the entire outer loop. This was our first time at Larson lake trail and we will be back. Happy 2016 everyone! Keep it going and pick the right kick wax.
