I skied the Little Pine Trail today, and found it to be in good shape for this time of year. Due to the thawing/refreezing of this time of year, it is running pretty fast. I did not see any exposed rocks, and measured a 9 - 10 inch snow base on the trail. Conditions off trail ranged from spots of bare ground to 22 inches of snow.

We have amazing ski trail conditions right now on the Upper Gunflint Trail Ski System. Even with the warmer temperatures of the last few days, we still have a trail snow base of 12 - 15 inches, along with 22 - 27 inches off trail. With the large amount of snow we have received in the last 3 weeks, we are up to a total snowfall of 60.7 inches for the year. In March, we see some days that get up around freezing. When that happens, it is best to ski earlier or later in the day. Please support our ski trail system by purchasing an Upper Gunflint Trail Ski Pass at any of the businesses along the South Gunflint Lake Road.

The Upper Gunflint Ski Trails are in great condition. There was 9 1/2 inches of snow in the last week, with more on the way. The base was 10 - 12 inches, with 22 - 28 inches of snow off trail. There has been 48.7 inches of snow at Gunflint Lake this season. The attached pictures are of the Little Pine/Big Pine Trail, and the Lonely Lake Ski Trail. I skied all of Big Pine, and a small section of the Lonely Lake Trail this morning, and they were in the best shape of the season. Please support our trails by purchasing an Upper Gunflint Trail Ski Pass from any business on the South Gunflint Lake Road.

Skied the upper Gunflint trails around Gunflint lodge. Trails were in rather poor shape given the amount of snow on the ground. They were last groomed and tracked on back on Jan 18th according to the lodge, and it showed. Trails through the open had brush poking through all over.

All regular trails were groomed last week. Big Pine, Little Pine, Lonely Lake, and Amperage were groomed yesterday. All other trails have about an inch of new snow on them (with more coming down as I write this). The remainder of the trails will be groomed when it stops snowing. There is 12 - 21 inches of snow in the forest, and a 9 inch base on the trails. These trails have seen about 33.5 inches of snow from October through the present time.
