I would like to Thank Bob, Jeff and Rachel for the excellent conditions that were at the park today. Might have been the best I have ever experienced. Our volunteers should be proud of their commitment for residents and visitors. Few besides them understand the time it takes to get the trails to this level. Again Thanks.

Who would have thought that I would be skiing on a perfect trail in March, wearing pants and a fleece top! Skied the trail from lot #5 at Peninsula State Park. In the forest there were some leaves and evergreen sticks that slowed things slightly. Otherwise, perfect conditions!

Classic skied yellow and orange trails. Trails appear recently groomed. A bit soft overall but otherwise tracks of decent depth and in very good shape. Decent traction yet good glide with waxless skis. I wanted to do green, but when it was accompanied by a skate lane, there is very little room for the right hand pole. The only way conditions could have been any better is if we'd had a good cold night or 2 to set the track a little more--but near-perfect otherwise! Get out and enjoy!

I skied portions of the yellow, orange and green loops. Tracks were very good overall, except the last two miles of the green segment has tracks with inadequate width for good poling. Poles were lost in 18 inches of soft snow. Not good. My observations of skate surfaced trails showed uneven conditions. Not up to expectations. Lots of critter damage on last mile of green loop (wolf, coyote or golden retrievers?) I did not ski the purple loop where conditions may have been more consistent.

Classic tracks were in great shape - but skate deck very uneven and hard to skate on. Ended up doing a lot of double polling through some sections that were to bumpy to skate on.
