Traveled from the Metro to my son's home south of Bemidji, loaded up the skis and drove to Movil Maze ski trails just north of Bemidji for an afternoon ski. The trails had just been groomed, so we had the first ski on the classic tracks which were very good. A cold night should make them even better tomorrow. Skate deck looked very solid and ready for skiers. Impressed with the new warming house being built, the great signage, and the flow of the trails. This trail is a gem. Thanks groomers!

Movil was freshly groomed after Monday's snow. Conditions are soft and a bit uneven, which is par for the course with all the new snow. Unfortunately hikers continue to ignore the sign at the trailhead asking them not to walk on the groomed trails.

Skied the maze for the first time since 1981 - what a great trail system. Lots of snow, the skate deck was a little soft. The classic trail was very soft on the outside edge of the trail and often cover with snow from the groomer grooming over it. Skied classic but had to ski on the skate deck where the tracks were covered.

Movil was freshly groomed for both classic and skate after the recent snowfall and is in excellent shape. Conditions are a little soft, which is to be expected with the recent snowfall.

The trails were groomed Saturday and are in good condition. Classic tracks are set and skate deck is firming up. We got about 1" of snow Sunday night.

Surprisingly the trails have survived 45F and rain this past week and except for a few easily avoided sections of the green trail have maintained their coverage. The base is very firm, but not very icy so I was still able to get grip with a skate ski. There is a lot of debris and a number of thin spots but Movil is still skiable. Just s little more snow would make a world of difference. Think snow.

Just a dusting of snow has fallen this week, but it helped improve trail conditions. There are a few thin spots on the green trail and some areas of the red with a lot of leaves and sticks, but still very skiable. Many sections have excellent coverage, lets hope we can survive this weekends warm-up without too much damage.

Still decent skiing, but the trails are beginning to show the wear and tear, of accumulating needles and pine cones, warm temps and way too many hikers ignoring the signs at the trailhead saying skiing only. Could really use some new snow to freshen things up, but on the plus side many sections still have a good coverage.

With relatively low natural snow levels, the trails at the Maze were surprisingly good. They look to have been groomed fairly recently, with some corduroy still visible in places. A few segments have seen more ski traffic, but overall things were in good shape, and you could get a great edge for skating. The rolling nature of this system makes it a great outing on a mid-20 degree day when everything feels pretty fast but you have good control. There are a few spots with light debris from downed tree removal but overall no complaints.
