Trail Reports

2018-2019 season
Reports 1 to 10 of 12    Month: Mar | Feb | Jan
Monday, March 18, 2019
Afternoon
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, B skis ]
Good snow pack and no bare spots. Firm base with just a few pine needles starting to show up under the pines. Snow is also softer in afternoon so you will ski under control downhill. Skied aspen and big oak and they were both great. The road in from Hwy W is breaking up but don't let that stop you. Tracks are present but I would say they are shallow, if you want to go classical.

[ Good skis ]
Skied the Spring Rapids trails west of Crivitz this morning. Conditions were excellent. Solid, clear base beneath skate and tracked lanes. Clear, consistent surface. A terrific experience! Kudos to the DNR for their excellent grooming.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
Unfortunately with what could be considered superior snow conditions only 1/2 of the trails were groomed. Disappointing that they spent the time to groom the trails but only half way. What is groomed is in excellent condition.

All trails were rolled, groomed, and tracked today with the exception of the hills trail. The trails are in good condition, with somewhat of a soft upper layer, which should firm up.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: Most, Good skis ]
The riverside and aspen ridge trails were rolled yesterday and groomed today. They both have track set on them as well. They are flat and free from debris but the top is somewhat soft from all of the fresh light snow that we have received recently. Overall condition is good to very good.

Plenty of snow but needs grooming. Conditions icy, crusty, some unevenness as snowshoe tracks are on ski trail.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Trails were groomed and tracked today and are in fair to good condition. Maple Leaf Way still has some vegetation protruding through the snow, but the other trails are in good condition. All the previously icy spots are now covered on all trails. The trails are much less bumpy than before and have smoothed out fairly nicely. Still hoping for more snow to cover up the little bumps that may remain.

Morning
Firsthand: Freestyle
[ Trails Open: Most, Rock skis ]
Trails were groomed but very icy away from the loop near the river. The trail by the river is very nice for skating with some scattered debris. Away from the river it is very icy but fast with lots of debris. This will be a nice ski if we get a few more inches of snow.
