Best crust ever. I skied at around 8 and it was the best coverage ever and certainly for this date.

Good crust skiing this morning over all parts of the golf course. The freeze last night was just enough to make the difference.

[ Trails Open: Partial, Rock skis ]
For any diehards that want to get out for a workout, there are ungroomed areas on the fairways, with 3-4 inches of crusty snow, several hundred yards long on the golf course that survived the warm up and are very skiable. I went up and down the hill on the 4th hole fairway along Good Hope Rd this morning a number of times. Be warned that in between fairways there is bare ground and some icy patches so use rock skis and be prepared to take your skis off if need be.

[ B skis ]
Still ski-able. I skied Brown Deer just after the lunch hour today. I used my A skis. Tomorrow and maybe this evening you might want to consider using your B skis. The trail is overall in okay shape, you can still get a workout, but there are those several places where the snow is gone and grass is sticking through the snow. Up by the clubhouse where the logging trucks are driving, the trail is gone and one has to take off skis and walk around that. Some places your pole tips are going down to the asphalt cart trails (but a thanks to the groomers for making the trails wide, so one can usually avoid that) The snow is much slower today than it was last night. It took me a good extra 10 minutes to do a loop today compared to last night. But I'm waxed for 10 degrees. So you might want to throw some warm wax on your skis if you're going out there tonight or tomorrow, and you want to have some glide. As to classic tracks, at least next to the skate tracks, they are there, but they did not look very good.

A big thank you to the groomers of the skate deck at Brown Deer park. It is so nice to be able to skate "locally" without a 1.5 hour+ round trip commute to one of the kettle ski areas. Trails were in great shape with plenty of coverage. Good skis were fine. that could change now with the warm temps and likely "B" skis after today's warmth. But thanks again to the great partners at Brown Deer Park!

Trails were in very nice shape. Solid and groomed with hints of corduroy yet at 5pm. It's so great to have snow and groomers who care!

Soft but very nice. Good coverage - no thin spots. Trail did not appear to be groomed after Sunday morning snow. Soft track skis were fast for skating. Classic track was set on only a small part of the trail.

Trails were groomed and in good shape. Plenty of skiers appeared to have made good use of the trails. Very appreciative of the grooming and of course the new fallen snow.

Very nice skate skiing on the golf course. The trails are groomed and wide with small amount of debris and a few thin spots. 2-3 inch base with some new powder this morning.

Thanks to the groomers for great work today! Skated two loops this afternoon. Snow is very soft and coverage thin in places -- some debris and grass. All in all very skiable though, but because of thinness in windblown areas bring B skis or rock skis. Also old poles or even rollerski ferrules wouldn't be a bad idea, since much of skate deck follows cart path and pole tips will take some hits. But all in all very much worth it -- great to be skiing again in Milwaukee County!
