This is a "special report" on the Doan Lake loop that branches off of the main Trout Lake trail. Skiing was excellent today and this single-track trail gets very little use and is beautiful! This trail branches off the Trout Lake Trail about 3/4 mile from the Trout Lake parking area. Then the trail loops about 3.5 miles and eventually returns to the Trout Lake Trail at the same spot. There are some challenging hills, but most of the trail is gently rolling through a variety of wooded habitats. This gorgeous trail must be one of the best kept secrets in the county. Snow conditions continue to be outstanding. You will not be disappointed if you try this loop. This was my first time on this loop, though I have skied the main Trout Lake Trail many times.

Excellent skiing with a dusting of new snow on the double tracks. It doesn't get any better than this. Get out and enjoy this trail, which appears to be one of the best-maintained in the county!

The temps were subzero but the ski was very enjoyable. The track is fast but controllable. Some leaves do hang up the skis at times but the trail is holding up well with the groomers leaving an inch or so of soft snow outside the track.
