Morning
Firsthand: Classic Secondhand
[ Trails Open: Partial, Good skis ]
The WinMan Trails got about a foot of snow over this past weekend. According to Trail groomer Justin Polic, this was rolled yesterday. 3" of fresh snow fell over this rolled snow last night and fresh grooming (rilled skate deck and classic track) was in progress as I skied. I skied nearly all of the yellow and green trails with my best classic race quality skis and a good part of the red trail on skier set classic tracks. The woods are beautiful. The air is fresh and crisp and a forest breeze is invigorating. Don't miss this late season opportunity. I skied about 13 kilometer of trail with very little repeating.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Picked up over a foot of snow. Trails have been rolled a couple times and the 2.5, 6 and 3.3k Out-N-Back trail have been groomed but not trackset. The plan is to trackset those trails and possibly groom the 10k loop on Tuesday.

Justin freshened up the skate lanes today - still no bare spots or debris and track is still in great shape.

Observation
[ Trails Open: All ]
I did not ski the trails today. I decided to check out the snowshoe trails instead. However, the snowshoe trails either crossed or followed the ski trail several times. The ski trails appeared to be in very good condition. It looked like a nice track and decent skating deck. The snowshoe trails had all been groomed. With the warmer temperatures and moist snow, I had to clear the snow accumulation from my snowshoes fairly often. I did the perimeter of all the snowshoe trails which ended up being almost 7 kilometers. It was a beautiful sunny Spring day.

Just a beautiful morning, felt like a perfect January day instead of April. Kudos to those keeping the trails; the snow was a little soft and slow as a result, but well packed and groomed everywhere (we skied the 10k loop and a few extensions). Just incredible April skiing. Saw groomers out around 11am doing some upkeep. Saw about a half dozen other skiers out, and a dozen cars in the lot spread between skiers, showshoers, and fat bikers. No debris or open areas on the 10k loop. Our first time here, what a gem. Smiles on our face all day long.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Another day, another dumping - this time a good 5-6" - which means all trails - snowshoe, fat bike and ski trail - got the treatment. Everything looks great (with one exception, see below) but is a little soft. It was also very windy this afternoon and there were places on the fat bike and ski trail that had significant drifting that was groomed but may have drifted in again. The exception: We did have a mechanical issue on the ski trail and though track has been set everywhere, part of the skate lane on the far east end of the 10k loop did not get finish corduroy (it is roller packed however). Hope to get the equipment out of there first thing in the morning and get it finished.

I skate skied the entire red loop including both out and back extensions. I found the skate deck to be good but not great. The skate deck was a little uneven so It took a little more finesse than usual to keep from being tripped up. However, it was definitely a worthwhile outing, especially considering it's very late season. I thought maybe I was waxed too warm but Swix L8 should have been the right wax for temps in the high 20's. The deck was getting faster as the temperatures started to drop. I left a little after 6 pm but there was still over an hour of daylight left for skiing.

Picked up another 2-3" overnight and groomed all the trails today - ski, snowshoe and fat bike - as well as trackset the ski trail. All trails are back in great shape.

Grooming
[ Trails Open: All, Good skis ]
Groomed all the fat bike trails today and they look to be in great shape again (will not be grooming the berm-y section of the Green Trail anymore this season - please continue to use the cutoff to the ski trail where it's ribboned off). Skate lanes of the ski trail where also cleaned up today and are in great shape. Did not reset the track nor did it need it - but it's also still in great shape. Another major snow storm forecast to start tonight - we will be grooming all trails again after it passes.

With the 7-9" of snow we picked up today, it's time to take the storage wax off your 'A' skis - we are back to mid-winter conditions. All the snowshoe and ski trails were groomed and the ski trail was track set. Trails are clean of any dirt or debris, tracks are excellent. Happy Easter!
