Grooming
[ B skis ]
Conditions: Grooming today. It'll be tricky with the warmer temps.
Just surveyed the ski trails after a warm week up north and they are looking good. The average packed base is 6-8 inches. No bare spots. Some pine litter. Tracks will be icy in spots. High temps in the low 40s and light winds. Suggest waxless skis or sticky wax. Bring T-shirts and shorts :). Spring skiing!

Grooming
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Trails were groomed Friday after 4" of great snow earlier in the week. As much as 24" in the woods and base is substantial and much more level than at any time this season.
Excellent skiing for those who ventured out this chilly weekend. High winds from the NW on Friday and Saturday caused some substantial drifting in the few open areas. About 1/4" of additional snow Monday and some predicted for later in the week. Still a bit of availability at the National Forest Lodge this coming weekend.

Beautiful day on the trail. Some of the trails were freshly groomed others had good track in fresh snow. Much more snow in this area compared to anything on the shore down to Duluth.

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Trail conditions were fair to good... some icing of groomer track, but overall a very nice skiing experience! Could use some new snow but have enough.
I skied the trails for 3.5 hours today, covering almost all of them... and I saw no other skiers! Where else in Minnesota could you have that solitary a ski for that long?

Afternoon
Firsthand: Classic
[ Good skis ]
Conditions: Very good. Trails with close tree cover are shallower and curves are a bit icy.
My wife and I had the trails to ourselves. Skied all that I had groomed earlier in the day. About 26 degrees and blue wax made for good grip and fast glide.
